WCML North TS2012

Well, started to test, but I noticed an issue right away. I do not know if this is by design or an error, but the signals do not show in the 2D map. Frame rates are lower and the ride is a little rough. Started freeroam at Glasgow.

Got the signals back in the 2D map. Verified files. But that begs the question of why after every update file have to be verified and reaquired?

I just finished all of the new scenerios (at least to me, not sure if they came with the update or not but I hadn't played them before) by Keith Ross and I was really happy with them.

Until the last one... "Royal Scot" My save point is just outside of Glascow passing under the 15 mph sign. No matter what I do, I can no finish. I either get an AI collision error or a derailment due to consist tilt (at 10 mph). It always stops within 200 yards of the end... Very obnoxious.

The others however... Very happy with.

I also have no signals, just signal numbers, in the map. AWS makes it impossibile to miss them anyway and they showup on the grade chart, so I don't care much. I had assumed it was by design.

Really? Can you prove that by a screenshot? Because I too did a file verification but still have no signal aspects whatsoever in the '9' view, only the numbers identifying the signals.

Got passed the "something bad" point but it happened just after motherwell this time, I'm wondering if my newish graphics card maybe faulty or another component perhaps, Got a 1st generation Quad core phenom 9500 4 gb ram win 7 loadsa readyboost - radeon HD6770 1gb running at 850mz 1200 clock speed, i even tried to over clock for a few sessions using the ati optimiser and tweeking some settings but no joys, so put it back to default - its a mysetery as to why some routes look really great with decent fps speeds and other are missing textures with poor results, tried the ore to mossend level and it refused to work unless i switched tsx off and lower the setting to the absolute lowest, yet i can run any other route with the tsx on without such problems arising. I have read all the guides on here with regards to graphics settings tsx multi-core etc but this wcml route is still problematic in parts for me, Dont get me wrong though! - some parts are awesome still !!*ok*!! - royal scot ran nice on tsx mode but had a few missing stations and platforms but was running aty a decent rate and the rain looks gd on the side windows - i was considering a complete wipe and start again from scratch but would like any last ditch options to try if anyone here has any :)

on a slightly different note, i see the google map for the proposed HS2 route has been published http://highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk/in-your-area - Could be a nice idea for a route on here, It's way too big a project for a novice like me but would like to help/learn if anyone is considering undertaking it,

Thanks for taking the time to read this *!!thnx!!*

As I understand it, TSX uses PhysX acceleration, which is only on Nvidia cards (might be wrong, AMD/ATI should have something similar). Also, Steam tends to get groundpounded on a regular basis, so the verify/reaquire tango is standard. I always verify 3-4 times every few days, just to be on the safe side. The blueprint cache should also be cleared before running the game, as many say.

Also, check your Catalyst driver. If you're on a beta driver for your graphics card, Bad Things will happen. And ReadyBoost (or whatever MS calls prefetching to/from flash drives) is a joke. It's used once on system boot, then forgotten.

I apologize for rambling/incoherencies, but I've got really addictive music playing on the side.

I also get the AI collision when entering Glasgow - obviously a fault with the scenario. Still as its only yards from the end it did not spoil the scenario for me.

For ATI video systems, a software PhysX version is installed. It does work, watch a train round a curve too fast, the consist will lean outward and you might even receive a consist tilt message or even lean over far enough to derail. It you get back to straight track after an outward lean, the consist will actually rock side to side a bit.

I thought the PhysX is only used for the fancy flying train animations when you derail your player train.

I have both ATI6870 and NVidia560GTX video in my computers and hardly notice any difference performance wise.

What I would like to know is wether the new WCML uses superelevation or not? I don''t think so as I think many of the curves are not quite smoothly entered and left, i.e. there often ins't a proper transition. I recently ran a Class 390 (Pendolino) scenario from UKTS at maximum speed and noticed the train lurches violently when entering a curve at 100 MpH or more before the tilting mechanism kicks in.

Otherwise it is a superb route, with great scenery, great lighting, great scenario's and it is one of the few with proper catenary for as much as TS12 allows. Still no vertical chain and zigzag, but Keith Ross placed all masts, portals, supports and outriggers the right way so the contact wire is always "pulled" towards the center of the track.

I don't believe it does.
