As for weathering, I think all you'd have to do to make a convincing 'dirty' but not 'damaged' car is reduce the alpha shine to almost nothing, and spray the entire car with a light coat of rusty, dusty brown. Make sure the spraying is done vertically, not horizontally, so any streaking looks authentic.

The problem I am up against is time. I am probably one of the slowest repainters here because my time to work on projects is limited, and I am perfectionist who is still learning the trade of repainting.

Remember that I still have a bay window caboose I am working on, and I needs a whole lot more love than a tank car *!!wink!!*

Well, the top of the tank anyway. The other point is the crud thrown up by the wheels on the tank ends. Unfortunately the RW tank has some bizarre mapping which makes matching the weathering on the top quite ridiculously awkward.

I remember seeing this in the DigiRails repaints. Thats why I suggested spraying the whole car uniformly...to avoid pulling one's hair out. Though you're right, it wouldnt be totally accurate. But yes, the wheel road dirt spray up the ends would look good too. I'd like to try this, I just dont have much time in the next week or so.

Well I solved the mapping issue by just spraying half the car ( taking the top as going through the middle of the fillers ) and then flipping a copy of the weathering and pushing most of it off the top of the texture, so that got the odd overlapping strip working. 4 px worth of vertical motion blur supposedly got it a bit stripy, but... the DXT compression just turned it all into a horrible brown blur anyway. I have a bit too much going on to make a good job of this, I'm afraid - I'm sure there's someone around with an hour who could do it.

oh hush, I don't have the guts to tell Kali that his caboose isn't working .... oops did I just say that?

Its probably something I did to the CN bin file while I was studying his work.

No,it was probably my fault, go reinstall it :P. That happens when one of the child objects can't find it's shape, the vehicle shows in the editor once and never again. I think I uploaded it with some wierd paths once & uploaded it again in the hope noone noticed...

Anyway that was why I didn't put it in the library too!

MadMike just did a bunch of PFE reffers... granted they are the old EA model (don't blame Mike!), but they are better than nothing.

Dirtied up the wheels (though they will still look ugly no mater what I do), added a decal for the compression shoes (since the texture mirrors). A few more details and I will release this. I will leave it to others to weather it.
