Blueprints For Loco

Unread postby eyein12 » Tue Nov 29, 2011 8:29 am

ok so I guess here is a bunch of the millions of questions im gonna have.

1. I followed the wiki on hierarchy for bogeys and wheels. 1 bogey has 3 wheels and i have 2 bogeys. Do I just export the entire model as 1 .igs and the blueprint editor will recognize the bogeys and load them up in the asset editor? or does each bogey need to be exported with their sets of wheels seperate?

2. when trying to create a cab, do i need to build an actual cab interior seperate from the entire model? or is the one that I build inside the model the one? and does that need to be seperately exported?

3. does it matter where the model is positioned in 3dsmax? it is parallel and centered on the y-axis.

thanks

Ian

Bogies need to be seperate objects inside the IGS, named properly ( and with a proper heirarchy ) - how to do all that is in the tutorial on the wiki site. The bottom of the wheel treads needs to be at 0 on the z-axis. It's a good idea to centralise it on X because it makes your blueprint setup easier, but I don't know if you actually have to.

i know that but how does the BP editor know how to use them if i just export 1 object versus all the parts.

Have you read article 9.01 "Create an Engine" in the RS Dev Docs (http://www.railsimdownloads.com/files/r ... evDocs.exe)?

The bogie blueprints look for specific object names in the model - which is why you have to name them properly.

i read those yes! theres certain elements now that need to be explained. they take a mere paragraph to explain the order of your model and not how to export it right. it looks like it needs to be 1 model exported.

Also, for the cab I was told by Dick Cowen once that you have to build a separate cab outside of the body model and place it in your cab view folder. So, yes, you need to build a entire separate cab for your cab view, they call it a 3d cab.
