RE-skin the TS2012 Default SD40 problem

Unread postby Marleyman » Wed Nov 16, 2011 7:33 am

I am trying to paint the Default SD40 from TS2012, I already painted the default RW2 version and I want to redo this so the one with lights is now painted. I have cloned the default SD40 using RWTools like I usually do for my re-skins and I have opened the texture files;
UP_SD_40_1_colb.TgPcDx
UP_SD_40_2_colb.TgPcDx
SD_40_1_col.TgPcDx
SD_40_2_col.TgPcDx
SD_40_3_col.TgPcDx
SD_40_4_col.TgPcDx
Diffuse1.TgPcDx
Diffuse2.TgPcDx
Diffuse3.TgPcDx
Diffuse4.TgPcDx

Those all look like they need painted so I have used RSBin tool to export the DDS files and 'splashed a bit of paint' over some of them to see what is what. Specifically I have painted UP_SD_40_2_colb.TgPcDx and Diffuse1.TgPcDx and loaded TS2012, went into the editor (after deleting the blueprints pak) and placed the Loco. Nothing changed.

Is there some new magic that I have to work to paint this Loco?

I had no problem doing the ES44AC or the UK Locos this week, just this one. can anyone point out my error please?

Thanks.

Hi, you might want to open the Geo file in RWtools and skim through the material section at the top to see what textures the shape file you picked is actually using. I haven't checked to see if any got renamed since the previous version, but there might be some files left for back compatibility.

The SD40-2 now uses the DIFFUSE files for the skin. The other are remnants of the old SD40, but may be using small parts of each. I was going to try deleting the old files and see what happens but never got around to it. Diffude 1 & 3 are the right and left siodes of the unit. Diffuse 2 is the cab end. Diffuse4 is the under carriage.

Ok, I painted 2 of those a flat green, nothing changed. I will try this again today with a new clone and see what I can do.
