Nice, that model looks really good!

Although I am pretty sure that the white sill stripe wasn't added until after the change to the "speed lettering" text after the D&RGW bought SP. :)

Yep, looks pretty cool!

I hope RSC makes sure all the heaters are in working order...that scene looks pretty dang cold...wouldnt want the windows to frost up!

Wouldnt that be a cool feature? I assume it could be done in the same way as the rain effects!

Could be done a lot simpler than rain, thankfully! frost is static, although growing it procedurally might be fun too.

So as someone who can tell the difference between a widenose and a normal nose SD40 and that's about the limit, what's special about this one?

I'm not an expert on it, but I know the radiators were significantly modified to provide better cooling while inside the confines of tunnels specifically for this region. While not unique to SP, the tunnel motors are a well known 'feature' of SP.

Hi Kali, look near the rear, lower end of the body, there is a large vent, this was made to help the tunnel motors work better in poorly ventilated tunnels. As I'm an east coast RR guy, I don't know much about the tunnel motors (They were a west coast thing in the US), but I think that's the only main difference. The locomotive is also a bit longer, I believe, but I may be wrong.

Yep, the radiator intakes and grills were moved to the back of the locomotive near the deck to it could get more fresh air into the radiator and prevent the exhaust fumes from building up inside of tunnels. They were specially built by EMD at Southern Pacific's request.
