P42DC Genesis loco question

Unread postby johnmckenzie » Fri Oct 28, 2011 5:39 am

Hi guys

I have a question for any of you who own the Genesis loco - can the alerter be disabled? Most of my RW driving is done with the sound switched off so my wife can watch the television... I should imagine you can't drive it in silence because of the alerter function.

Any ideas / suggestions? Thanks!

Hi John,

Well this isn't a RW suggestion... but have you considered getting a headset? A nice quality one will give you great sound.

Thanks

Keep an eye on the dash, the alerter lights up an icon there well before it makes any noise.

For me, a stereo headset is a must have.
the better the headset, the better the sound. The only problem I have,is when my large
Malumute / Huskey sneaks up on me and butts me in the back with his big head.
Almost jump out of my chair !*YAAA*

Doesn't the warning light come up on the HUD when it is going off?

Like Kali said, the light turns on well before the alerter goes off. Lonewolfdon wrote a script a while back that lets you hear the alerter out of the cab, but if the sound is turned down, that won't help. John, how can you run this awesome sim without sound? Grab a nice set of headphones. !!*ok*!!

I game with a headset all the time, and I've never had a problem with hearing other people. Sometimes I can't make out exactly what they're saying, but I can always tell when someone is talking to me, and I can pause the game and take off the headset to listen to them.

Headset, and an alerter for when the Mrs is talking to you.
Aptly named "dead man's pedal".

Rick has set up a new page that explains how the alerter can be disabled: http://gtraxsims.com/fixes.htm
