You mean 16-bit colors?
Why would you need that?

On some systems the MSTS editor needs the desktop res set at 16 bit or else you can run into problems with it.

What version of Windows? I just tried to change from 32 to 16 bit on Win 7 Ultimate, and didn't have to restart. Never have had Windows want to restart to change color depth or resolution. !*don-know!*

Seems like I remember that you get a choice of whether or not to restart.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that's it! XP you have a "tick box" that says something like "make/ save changes without restarting" Good grief. Been that long since I ran XPeeeeeeee?

I had to refresh my memory on how to set it so that you don't have to reboot every time you change the resolution.

In the same window where you change the screen res, click on the Advanced tab. Under the general tab you can make changes there.
