CPU limited it is not. Yes, it lays heavy into the CPU but simple, very simple tests show 90% of the time with stutter and low framerates the CPU isn't 100% load..

Case in point. Core #1

styckx, I'll check my system when I'm out of work but what does Windows Task Manager show for CPU usage? The Intel program is showing what 8 threads are doing and I have no idea if that program is saying 20% of available threads are in use or if a full core is being used.

Update: Alright, finally got a chance to take a look at this stuff... and styckx, you're correct. My CPU usage hovers around 20-30% too. This is very weird... I can't even get the CPU to go very high no matter how hard I push it. It's like the CPU is "taxed" as far as the game will allow it to go. If the CPU isn't being used to its fullest then that's some serious handicapping. My gut is still telling me this is why we're getting stutters. I'm gonna have to do some more testing and dig deeper.

Update 2: Doh! Took a program to wake me up... had a brain fart... of course it's going to hover around 20-30%... TS2012 can't use anything more than that. It's maxed out it's thread access which is technically 1 core which is 25% of my CPU.

Final Update: Okey dokey, so I tested with multi-core enabled and it maxed out 5 "cores" and almost maxed out a 6th. It was actually stuttering even more with multi-core enabled. Every time I adjusted the throttle, hit a bump, or blew the horn the audio would change and it would stutter. But what I found to be really odd was every time it stuttered a thread line dropped drastically as if it just stopped using that thread. Definitely some weird stuff going on.

I sure hope RSC is watching this thread... my guess is they're working hard to resolve this issue. But this thread might help them in their efforts.

OK, this is all IMHO, of course. When you see the stuttering, look at your hard drive activity light. Flashing? Yep, it sure is. This is all interrelated. The game has to access the drive as it loads the next section: scenery, AI, you get the idea.

Tori and I have both done a lot of messing around with hard drive setups. I had a RAID 0 with two WD Black 500Gb 7200 RPM drives. It helped a lot over a single drive. Now I have two 500Gb Raptors. Cost an arm and a leg and didn't help that much. I'm not gonna even think about an SSD. But, I still believe that the core issue is hard drive reads.

Sly's suggestion is great. It will help a lot of folks because it changes how much "stuff" needs to be loaded from your hard drive. Guess we just need to do a little more beta testing? !*salute*!
