A beginners guide

I may have been looking in the wrong places but if anyone can point me in the right direction.

My dad is going to get RW2/RW3 soon. Now my question is this - does anyone know where there is a set of basic tutorials for RW - covering all the things someone might want to do - from driving trains, to editing/creating scenarios, adding downloaded stock, to tracklaying, building a route etc.

I know that there is a lot of material out there. What I want to do is to try to collate as many of the tutorials as I can - give him the links so that he can look at them in his own time. He tends to prefer text tutorials to youtube as he finds it easier. If there are tutorials that people would recommend I'd be very grateful.

There's some basic stuff covered in the manuals when you install the game. They can be found in the railworks/manuals folder after install.
They can also be found when you fire up RW under the Tools & Docs tab at the top of the window.

There are also links there to the Youtube tutorial videos that RSC made.

The most useful thing I found on the trainsim.com site was a "Start here" sticky thread directing the new player to available resources and helping him get started with the game, add-ons, etc. They did that for both RW and MSTS. I was thinking about doing that here, but I'm not the most knowlegdgeable player myself.

Thanks for this. I am trying to avoid information overload, as when confronted with a huge amount of material it can be off putting.

There's a lot of useful stuff at http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewforum.php?f=339 and it is constantly being added to.

RW2 already includes several tutorials and I think that more are coming with the RW3 update. Although I've been playing this sim ever since it first appeared, I find myself returning to these tutorials from time to time to refresh my memory and improve my skills.
