What files to backup?

Hi, I was going to back up my route for the first time. Which files to I need to back up and how? Do you save it as a package or?

Kinda stupid of me not to back it up at all yet, good thing nothing has happened.

Hiya,

Use the packager (Second tab on the launch screen with the ad for TS2012) to create a package of your route. Simple as that.

Yes, packager will work great. IF you want to also backup the assets used with the route, you'll have to include those in your selection, but they will greatly increase the size of the package, including a lot of stuff not used by the route. You can be selective, however.

rwbu.zip contains a backup bat file which will back up everything for the route itself, and all assets that have changed or been added since the last backup.

I do the above, but then after every editing session, I also do a simple copy of the route folder over onto a different drive.

Interesting method. I just usually copy the "steamapps" folder, along with my Documents folder (that's where all my third party stuff has a copy in) I make an "incremental" backup weekly, using Windows backup, to an external hard drive. Only the new stuff needs to be added. Quick and easy.

I would suggest you download Synctoy v2.1 from the Microsoft download site http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... x?id=15155

With this program you can schedule backups of any folders on your PC to any type of media, I use a plug-in USB drive. Once it has backed up the folder(s) you require, you can schedule it to backup the same folders on a daily or weekly schedule and you never need to touch it again. Only changed files are copied in all subsequent runs and it is very fast.

I use a utility called Karen's Replicator. It's small, fast, and doesn't require any extra dependencies, although if you're running RW you already have at least Net Framework 2.0 installed, which is required for SyncToy.
