Updated Scripts Release

Unread postby SithMurcielago » Sun Jul 31, 2011 10:08 pm

I'm uploading onto this forum test scripts for my coder who want to imagine new realistic changes to the engine scripts of the default Locomotives. I base this information on Facts and math.

With an Example of the ESSAC.

To Start off The MaxPower (HorsePower) in Kilowatts is expressed as 3281.079
MaxForce (Tractive Force) in Kn is expressed 814.024 (RS was way lower)
Continuous Force in KN is expressed as 738.404 (RS much lower)

To get Max Power at rail I had to take 80% of the horsepower (4400) and I got the value of 3520.

I did this the same way with the SD40-2. Download and tell me if you notice any real difference. I certainly did. I don't get a formula F1 type start anymore.

Just extract each file into their Simulation Folder and overwrite the original copy.

ContinuousForce will be an AI setting if it does anything at all ( I suspect it won't do a thing, tbh ). Your MaxPower setting of 3281 kW is 4400bhp - as I mentioned earlier you have to take the 20% off there, it is that figure that gets used when you're driving. MaxPowerAtRail does nothing at all, you can set it to 0 if you want, although I don't remember trying it at 0 and letting the AI drive. Doesn't do anything for human drivers.

Oddly enough I think MaxForce is in lb-ft, I'll have to go check with some others first for that.

Well done though, nice improvement already :)

ah I got you I will re adjust. According to the docs the force is always expressed in KN. Even though you say some of this stuff doesn't do anything it nice to see real values and maybe they will come to use in RW3. However I did notice some changes in the game. I don't Rocket off quickly.

I'm wondering where did you get 20% from?

I take the accepted view that each stage loses 9% power, so that's (brand new!) engine power *0.9*0.9 ( which is 0.81 so 19% off, near enough ). I'm quite tempted to take another 5-10% off just for wear & tear...

I went and checked, and MaxForce is indeed in lb-ft*1000. Welcome to RW physics :)

ok thanks for checking I can make the right changes now. I wonder if KW is actually expressed in HP.
