AI. . .I have to know. . .

NEWS FLASH. . .NEWS FLASH. . .NEWS FLASH. . .NEWS FLASH. . .On this date, no more than 45 minutes ago, I was successful in getting five (count 'em FIVE) AI trains to leave the yard one at a time and disappear into their portals at the other end of the line! ! ! ! ! Each had it's own portal and each went to said portal. The effect created through my town was that there were 10 trains passing through there during a specified amount of time. This is what I have been trying to achieve for a long time....(maybe a month)!

OK, now comes the usual newbie questions:

Wait time:
When you double click on the portal you get to specify "wait time". Is this expressed in minutes, hours, days or years???? I set the wait time at 1 and I can tell you it's not minutes, as far as I can tell. Does the wait time refer to how long it will be before the train reverses its course and returns to it's original position? Or does it mean that it will be placed back in it's original position after a certain amount of time so as to run the route again???

Return of my trains:
My train is not gone forever, is it? (Seriously y'all, I looked for all tutorials and video I could find before making this post.)

I have read numerous comments about portals, most not good. Is there a decent tutorial out there somewhere about portals. The one I did locate was useless.

Thanks! ! !

Does each AI train have to have its own portal? Can you send multiple AI trains into the same portal?

I send trains to the same portal with no problem. I expect them to be gone once they go to the portal. I figured it was a way to get something off the route to save on FPS or CPU time. As I understand it all the problems are from trying to get a train to come out of a portal.

Multiple trains into a portal : yes. Multiple trains out of a portal... requires an act of god, I think.

Glad you're happy!
