If you have the fantastic British Class 390 you can use the "C" key for speed control.
The train will then maintain it's current speed.

(The Class 390 is great on the WCML.)

Fast Track-Selection

If you are editing your tracks (e.g. changing the speedlimits) by using the track selection tool, you can speed up the process by doing this:
Just hold "Shift" while pulling your cursor. The selection tool will follow the tracks fast and automatically.

Warning: Don't select too long sections of tracks with the track selection tool. It will crash your game.
