Single-sheated 40' boxcars for Sherman Hill 1950s

Unread postby marcusboon » Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:45 am

I am researching 1950s boxcars for use on the recently released Sherman Hill 1950s route. I seem to remember that way back in 2011 Michael Stephan released a a pack of 18 USRA 40' boxcars which included single-sheated boxcars.

As far as I can make out this pack is no longer available, but I wonder if these single sheated boxcars are still somewhere available. Sherman Hill 1950 is a truly wonderful route, and such cars would look good (with other 40ft boxcars) behind UP steam…

I do not know if these are accurate or not, but I use a mix of the Boxcars provided with the RWA Route (many western schemes), the boxcars from the CabForward pack (Western/southern pac) and this pack of boxcars from the library here (a few additional UP schemes):

What I think is sorely missing are some UP flatcars/scrapcars/livestock cars.

Glad to see someone else enjoying the route!

You better believe I am too !*roll-laugh*!

Finally managed to fire up my new PC yesterday and loaded all my software etc. (New i5 with twin SSD's and 1070TI GPU) Last thing I did was download this and fire it up. Loving what I saw. Hoping one (or more) of the community's repainters can work on some period rolling stock now we finally have somewhere for them to run.

Thanks for all the hard work - it REALLY is appreciated.. **!!bow!!**

!*cheers*!

The G-Trax Sacramento Northern route includes Michael's USRA Double-Sheathed 40ft Boxcar models. Perhaps we could reskin some of those.

Michael released a set of USRA Double Sheathed Boxcars that are excellent. If you are reading Michael, we would love to see them available again. I still have my original copy and use them often.

I'm not so sure what is being asked for here, but maybe this is what you were looking for: http://www.golden-age-rails.com/packslegacy/usrabox.html

Thanks for the link, these sets are exactly the ones I am looking for!

However, this page seems no longer accessible from Michael Stephan’s ‘Golden Age of Railroading’ site, and the ‘buy now’ button only leads to: ‘PayPal cannot process this transaction because of a problem with the seller's website. Please contact the seller directly to resolve this problem’.

I have sent Michael an email, I hope he will consider putting these sets back on sale. They would complement his routes perfectly, and of course would fit Sherman Hill 1950 too.

Michael Stephan confirmed to me that the two sets of USRA boxcars were pulled as he was no longer happy with them. The good news is that the forthcoming G-Trax B&LE route will contain updated versions of the USRA single-sheated boxcar in B&LE and unlettered liveries.
