modifying the Corris Railway (Solved)

Unread postby JohnS » Sat Nov 25, 2017 8:02 am

Ok so I got the Corris railway during the sale. I want to use it learn some editing stuff. I've noticed they're some rough grade changes and a couple of odd curves. I want to fix these but keep the scenarios working. Is this possible or as soon as I mess with the track the scenarios break?

Solution: No matter the state of the world editor the route files all must be read/write enabled!

Is there something special I have to do so I can move buildings and track? I have done this in other routes but this one only lets you move the switch stands and that's it. I can't click track or buildings or anything else. The little lock in the editor is unlocked too. I didn't know if there is something else blocking me from editing.

I believe minor track changes, like fixing a curve, would not disable a scenario. Any greater change, like adding a turnout, for instance, might make the scenario not work right.

When making route changes, perhaps make sure you're in the route editor (world editor), not just the scenario editor. I don't use the scenario editor much, so am not certain about that advice.

I'm definitely in the route editor but I can't change, adjust, or move anything. It's like everything is locked but when I check the lock icon it's unlocked. I can't click on anything to do anything. I wasn't sure if there is something in a bin file or xml file that would be keeping me from making any changes to the route. I don't want to clone the route because SSD space is at a premium right now. Doesn't seem to make any sense to me as to why I can't do anything to the route.
