Disabling Alerter

Unread postby pkz19 » Wed Aug 02, 2017 9:35 pm

On the Norfolk Southern SD40 Long Hood Forward, there is an alerter that goes off for inactivity in the cab. Usually, a button pops up that you click to turn it off, but in free roam if you switch to another loco and then back, the alerter will still go off but the button doesn't show up. I can't find any way to turn it off in the cab, it isn't discussed in the manual, and there doesn't seem to be a key stroke. Any way to disable it?

Alerter reset for any unit should be the 'Q' key.

Yes Trev, the NS SD40-2 LHF from DTG.

NSTrains, that works if you are in the xab when it goes off, but if you switch to a different cab, or have two of the LHF SD40s in a consist, "Q" won't shut it off. I was wondering if there is a tweak to the code that would disable it.

If you pull up the operating manual for those units, it should tell you how to disable the in-cab alerter. You should however, be able to reset the alerter outside of the cab when you see the yellow and black warning button pop up on the HUD.

As I said in my original post, the manual doesn't even mention the AWS.

As for the button, the button either does not appear or remains grey in SD40s that are not the player's locomotive, or in SD40s you have switched into and out of in Free Roam.
