Custom Track and Ground Textures?

Would it be possible to create my own ground and track textures the same way I create repaints? I would like to have custom textures for the tracks that come with the Chicago "racetrack" route and custom ground textures that come with the route as well.

The ground textures are easy. Just go find one rename it to whatever you want and then re-paint it to whatever you are looking for. The track is a lot more complicated. Are you trying to change the look of the ballast or the ties or the track itself?

Well with the ground texture I don't want to replace the original texture, I would like to make a copy and then repaint it.

For the tracks, I would like to just re-texture the ballast. Sorry for not explaining that part.

I guess I wasn't clear either. Like you would with a car re-paint make a copy and rename it. Then make your changes. Specifically I took a quick look at the Race Track and Barnez used Scale Rail. Is this just for your own use?

"Changes" as in editing the .bin? How would I edit the .bin for a ground texture? Since I'm adding one, would I need to add something to the .bin?

Nice! I created most of the NE Textures and love when I see them used. If you want to add them the instructions above are good. If you want to make your own texture files it is a little more involved or when you paint it will look like a pattern of blocks. You need to make 8 Wang tiles and blend them all together.

If you need help with that give a holler.

Thanks for the advice! I'm planning on making my own textures. I just need to go out and get the pictures and then mess around with it a little.
