DTG censoring steamforums...

Unread postby JPS2K5 » Wed Nov 30, 2016 10:13 am

Right, so I can discuss almost anything related to Railworks here. Does that include the support too? And the fact that if I post the most ridiculous answer ever I got from support, on the steam-forum together with the statement that it makes me doubt the quality of the support department suddenly the whole topic gets deleted?
Because frankly I don't think we live in Cuba or Russia, yet DTG seems to think so. And it bugs me.... censorship should not be tolerated.

We like to keep a positive attitude here. This is not a democracy, it is a private forum with it's own rules. If DTG wants to censor, so be it, we do it here to some degree here as do most forums around, well except faebook.

First let me remind you that you are talking to a private company and they can choose what they allow or not allow just like we do here. Having said the you must have been close to the truth for them to not like what was said.

I don't know the topic or what was discussed, but I know (as I am here) that DTG let most topics go unless it gets abusive or a subject becomes inappropriate.
I am guessing of course but did the topic go in one of those directions?

Anyway, if you have an issue send in a ticket.

best regards

I would be interested in what post the op is complaining about being deleted on Steam too, as I visit there 2 or 3 times a day.

it´s been a few months since the DTG censoring against abusive behavior like harassing and insulting started up and the only I can say is that it was about time. Just remember the few months after TS2016 was released.

Sigh... It was about the Hatchet Quarry DLC. It was up on the TS website store, I searched for it on steam and could not find it. I did send a ticket to DTG, but did not receive a response and time was running out (sale). So I went digging into the steam database and there I found it. I made a post on the steam forum with a link, so people who would also want it could buy it too.

4 days later, yesterday (so after sales end) I finally got a response from DTG saying that the Hatchet Quarry DLC was only available in the US !*don-know!*

So I posted that response in mentioned steam topic, stating that while I've had positive and satisfactory results from DTG support in the past, this was clearly a response from someone that doesn't know what she was talking about. I also suggested that perhaps DTG should monitor their support a bit more. What I most certainly did not do was call anyone names or anything.

So ye, then the whole topic got deleted. I was really upset about it yesterday. But today I'm like 'whatever'...

(and if I should have also kept my mouth shut here, just delete it. I wanted to just let it go but since people are asking...)

Hatchet Hill Quarry is no longer available on Steam and that is most probably why your post on Steam got removed.

I did not let it go as I work for DTG so it is in my interest to know.
Also, you were pretty strong in your wording so I wanted to understand the issue that's all.

Hatchet Hill is an Oovee Product which is a UK route and includes the class 04 (built from my class 03 :))
It is currently off sale due to a number of outstanding issues we would like Oovee to address.

So the DTG person responding did indeed give incorrect information if they said it is only on sale in the US.
They may have been confused with a number of US packs (BNSF) that are only on sale in North America.

Anyone can make a mistake and constructive feedback is always welcomed. I guess how the message was delivered was maybe why the thread was deleted.
But again, I did not see the thread nor talked to the person who may have given that information.

It's really kind of a shame about HHQ. A very atmospheric route around interesting rail work, but with serious issues Oovee never fixed. If you're looking for something similar, but better, try the Maerdy route.

And China Clay is still the best evocation of a British working route that seems to me to capture the Cornish countryside and the job of working material in early diesel days.

And Derek's own Weardale & Teesdale is railroad art. Throw in Keith's masterpiece, WLoS, and you've got all the best of UK railroading. (Although Woodhead is darned nice as well).

I think I've talked myself into some railroading sessions back over the pond again.

I just want to add a simple suggestion about your OP: think about a question mark. "DTG censoring steamforums ..." is an accusation, while "DTG censoring steamforums?" states a possibility. I don't know the wording of your post on Steam Forums, but the same advice might well apply there.

Again, just a suggestion !!howdy!! .
