Marias is definitely a close second to Stevens Pass for me. Even though I do have more playing time on MP *!greengrin!*

I'm DEFINITELY biased, so take it for what it's worth, but for me it'd have to be Soldier Summit.

The reasons being, Provo is HUGE in terms of trackage, and really fun to do locals around. The scenery makes it one of the most visually impressive mountain railroads. Plus, the incline from Helper to the Summit is challenging, but not in an over-the top way? Good selection of locomotives, excellent braking on the SD40T-2. The route is long enough that it feels really expansive and "epic", but not so long that it starts feeling boring. Each section is memorable, from the desert-y book cliffs overlooking Helper, to the subruban sprawl of Provo. Most of all, the character on this route is PERFECT. The towns are just large enough to feel built up and lived in without being boring. Helper actually looks how it looks in real life! Blasting your horn through Provo in the early hours of the morning just drips with atmosphere, in a way that no other route can hold a candle to.

The Rio Grande is a railroad that straight up conquered the Rockies in a way no other line ever has. This route does nothing less than celebrate the final years of Scenic Line of the World.

How's THAT for an explanation?

(On a side note, I'd literally do anything for DTG to release another D&RGW route. Esp the Green River sub from Helper to Grand Junction... I'd no joke pay $200 for that.)

Payware: NS coal district. Reason: I love NS and heavy coal trains through Pennsylvania.

Freeware: I actually don't have any freeware routes, however once the Lafayette Division route comes out then I'll definitely download that. Reason: this route is based in central Indiana, and so am I.

I'd say the West Highland Line Extension (http://store.steampowered.com/app/277748/). The route is breathtakingly scenic while also a good challenge to drive. The attention to little details, including trackside debris, grazing fauna, flange squeals around curves, etc., plus elements like the RETB signalling system in which you 'talk' to the Dispatcher, gives the route a fun, immersive, authentic atmosphere. I've been having lots of fun running steam 'Jacobite' tourist train services up and down the line.

I'm pretty in love with the RWA route actually. It's very period superbly done and has a ton of scenarios. You can take pictures almost anywhere and they turn out beautiful..
Just a great work of art.

Hi mjlevy1118.

I agree !!*ok*!! . It's second to none among RW routes. A real 'rivet counter' route.

Does this refer to TS routes or MSTS as well?

If the latter can be included, this would have to be a fictional route I built in the mid 2000s. It was designed to represent several different things in one route. I hadn't had seen it for nearly a decade until last year I think, when I saw these screenshots tucked away in a folder on my PC. I didn't recognise them at first, but when I figured out exactly what it is, I fired up my laptop to traverse the main line in the MSTS RE, and it was an indescribable feeling seeing it again. It hardly had any roads or anything. It was mainly landscape oriented, with an intention to vaguely represent the weed ridden portion of the line between Farrell Flat and Burra in South Australia's mid north in one of the sections. It was inspired by several routes, including the MSTS Dragon Mountain Pass, Coals To Newcastle, and a couple of others.

Sorry, but an MSTS screenshot coming up.

Strangely, this triangle was inspired by the wording of the Bermuda triangle only. But then I was much younger then. Please forgive me lol.

It would have looked better with my custom gum trees I reckon, but it's good enough imho.

This is for TS only. That is why we call it Railworks America.

The only thing I enjoy about TANE is using RR-Mods payware locomotives. There are still no high quality routes available that take advantage of the new graphics engine which is a real disappointment.

My favorite route is the Valen Branch. I am a short line fan and really enjoy the excellent bumpy track work put into this route.
