4GB Patch For RW

Unread postby SithMurcielago » Wed May 11, 2011 2:06 am

This was posted on UKTS, but I feel not everyone reads or goes on UKTS and may not get all the information that is helpful in running large routes while taking advantage of more memory on a 64bit computer.

This appears to be the answer to the something bad happened with 0 byte dump files I have been plagued with these since updating to a new 64 bit pc and it appears many others also have this fault. But no longer, I can run the most memory intense routes with very large trains and no crashes at all. Watching memory use in game it still appears to be under the 2gb cap but this has something to do with 'virtual' memory. Main thing is it works. Perhaps RS lads could research this a bit but in the mean time if you are running win 7 with lots of Something bad hangs this is your answer.

RSC had confirmed in an email from a member that a code was placed to support this feature.

You can download the patch here:

http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

Again this patch is only meant for users of 64bit systems not users with 32bit systems. Also make sure when you are prompted during installation you only patch

"Railworksproc2.exe"

I hope hawk can pinned this as it is very important in solving problems especially for builders.

I WANT TESTIMONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should this be applied to RailWorks.exe or RailWoprksProc2.exe or both?

You should apply only to RailWorksProc2.exe

There is no need for this patch. RSC enabled the same switch this patch enables a few core updates ago. You should update your thread at the other place also.

Again. This patch is useless and redundant now and the same feature was enabled by RSC a few core updates ago.

I guess there's no need for this thread to be stickied then.

Ah i that they used a code to allow it and people just had to use the patch to make it work. That is good. I still have some problems running intense routes like WCML in certain places.
