Blender Help

Unread postby SCLJim » Fri May 06, 2011 3:20 pm

I need a little help from someone familiar with Blender. I'm working on getting the structures, I recently finished in Maya, carried over to Blender, for eventual import into the game. The structures are set up for TrainLightMapWithDIffuse.fx (TrLightMap). The problem I am running into is the fact that I haven't gotten any of the formats to carry over multiple UV sets when I import into Blender. I've tried Collada, Obj, etc. So the easiest fix would be to import the structure twice, once with diffuse UV map active and then once with the AO UV map active. At that point I could copy the AO UV map, from the second object, to a 2nd UV layer on the first object. I cant figure out for the life of me how to transfer the UVs from one object to another in Blender. Anyone have an ideas??

Sure! I hope this makes sense! In a nutshell, I did the following.

1.I selected the model I wanted to receive the second UV set. I then shift-selected the model I wanted to transfer the UV set from.

2.Make sure you have a second, default, UV set active for the receiving model.

3.Then you go to Object - Scripts- UV Copy from Active.

4.It should tell you the transfer was successful.

5.You can then view the different UV Sets, on the original model, by setting them to active and viewing in the UV Set/Image editor.

6.At that point its just a matter of setting up the rest of the shader and then setting each texture to its corresponding UV set.

If anyone needs or wants more clarification on the whole process I can go in further detail. I'm just now sure how many people will find it necessary to transfer a UV set from one mesh to another. My personal work flow is kinda wonky since I do everything in Maya then import into Blender to get the items in the game.
