Strange "sound dome" for the new UP gas Turbine

Unread postby ChrisOnline » Sun Sep 27, 2015 11:18 am

Not sure if "sound dome" is the correct term in this case, but it has been bugging me that as the UP Gas Turbine passes you as an observer trackside, the impressive sound it makes is cut off very abruptly as the back of the third (rear) unit passes, and switches immediately to the wagon sounds behind. No fade or merging of sounds, just an immediate cut from one to the other

This applies when viewing the loco from any angle via any camera, even if the loco is stationary. Basically, it projects its sound forwards, above, and to the sides, but not backwards.

I assume this is a setting that can be adjusted in the code somewhere, but I have no clue where to start. Can anyone throw light on this?

I see Railfan98 has just uploaded to the library a fix to the Doppler effect for this loco, and I was hopeful this might be the answer, but it has not had any impact on this issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Or an actual fix?

You must not have been following the early 2016 posts. This has been identified and Mike Rennie has a fix which he has given to DTG. Hopefully they will put out a patch soon.

As Buzz said, I've already given them a fix for it.
