Of the two, Portland for me ( despite being english ) - E&G is ok if you just want to shuffle a bus back & forwards :P. Does look very pretty indeed though.

While I've already stated my disappointment about my too early purchase of the class 170 somewhere else - paid full price for the loco and now I have to pay for it again? sorry, no way - how is Portland? I was waiting for both routes and both had promising trailers and pictures. So convince me on getting Portland now please *!!wink!!*

You're right - in 2011. However I'm going to be reworking my route back to about 1980, when I can run my class 101 DMU in 3 livery variations and also with 3 driving cars per set (due to non-availability of centre cars), double headed class 20 MGRs, double head 37s on oils from Grangemouth to Bishopbriggs, class 40s, 25s and 37s at Queen St, Deltics at Haymarket, 08s in Cadder Yard - you get the picture. !!*ok*!!

However, you're right - the Portland route will undoubtedly allow for more freight operations - by a wide margin

Decided to grab both.

Both are great, Portland Terminal is a refreshing route for the U.S. I'm not a freight man really but I do love little short/brachlines to grind out short trips with light power and Portland Terminal fits that billing.. Secondly, it's the first U.S. route that seems to have done the scenery at a level most British routes have been doing for awhile now. It's packed with scenery and even little fine details that really make the entire route "pop". There is hardly a bald spot in the route. Just beautiful work.

G-E proves Mr. Thomson is a master of his craft. I considered GARL more like a work of dark art than say your typical route. G-E makes GARL look like batting practice comparatively speaking. He ramped up the volume of beauty to Spinal Tap levels of awesome. I love his purely from the cab craft of route building. It's not easy what he pulls off.

Congrats to both developers, top work from both.

I truely love the Potland Terminal.
It has so much detail. Thank you Rick for this masterpiece.
I will definitely include some of the scenery items in my Feather River Route, especially the cars.

By the way: E-G is Steam top 6th item and Portland top 20th item right now.
Only the Doncaster Works had a similar succes so far.
