ETA

Unread postby JerryC » Mon Feb 09, 2015 5:13 am

Ok, before I ask this question, just understand that when it comes to topics of current interest, i'm ignorant of most of it simply for the fact that I stay so buried with business at VRC that I simply don't have the time (or energy) to read through every post and topic. So i'm going to ask this and if it has been, or is being discussed elsewhere, point me to it. Or, you can simply PM me with the info then I can delete this thread so as not to clutter up the forum.

What is the scuttle on the current ETA of the Unreal Engine for TrainSimulator? I've hear bits and pieces, seen speculation here and there, but as far as I know it's coming in September?

Any info here will be appreciated.

I heard from Mike Durdan that it's now coming in March, next month, I'll ask him again.

He works for Dovetail now and I'm still in regular contact with him.

Is Mike a full-time employee (on the payroll) or a third party developer like me? If it's the former, I doubt he'd be allowed to discuss it with anyone outside the company, and if it's the latter, I doubt he would receive such sensitive information (I don't). Working for Dovetail and doing things for/with them are two different things.

Next month would be great! I'm very skeptical of that though. Usually DTG makes announcements far in advance of their major releases. And congratulations to MD on "working" for DTG. He won't for very long though, as giving that kind of information out, no less to someone who would blab it all over a talk forum, would be a major violation of a non-disclosure agreement.

defiantly not coming next month, DTG always makes announcements way ahead of any release date (the UE4 announcement for instance). The TS2016 estimate is really a release date made up by the community, DTG have never said it would come out then. TS2016 seems way too short of a time from when they announced it to make a full train simulator in UE4.

Speculative rubbish. Perhaps you have DTG's offering confused with N3V's version. *!rolleyes!*

DTG already announced a beta update to be released for TS2015 shortly, so it's doubtful the UE4 version would hit the streets so soon. Besides which, they would likely want to capitalize on their return for recently released DLC, as well as garner the 4th-quater/Christmas sales rush.

I say wait for news straight from DTG. The speculation mill is making my head hurt.
Cheers!

Sadly I have to agree with that assessment. We'll table this one for now and wait for factual information.
