Running vs.....not running

Just wondering when entering a scenario where you have multiple loco's (diesel) that are all running, is it possible through a text change (not sure what file that would be though) to have all engines not running, allowing you to pick the loco of your choice and using F4 and the start icon, to manually start the loco of your choice.

Just curious but where did you get the F4 key stroke from? The way we did it for our (VRC) scenarios is to script it in the scenario's LUA file so when it loads it calls the engine's shutdown control (or flips its breakers off).

F4 just to bring up the HUD when you then select the Start Engine icon, or you could just use the Z key on the board. Just curious if a script (text) change could be made in the appropriate file (?) to have all loco engines NOT running when you open a scenario.

If you use the script you need to call each engine by their number and turn them off (or on, or headlights, or <control name here>).

I'm not sure about this, but perhaps you are asking about being able to allow the scenario player to select one engine from several available when the scenario starts? There are two ways to do this: free-roam and timetabled scenarios. Rather than describe how to create them, I'll wait to see whether this is what you want.

Tom, what I'd like to know is this. Is there a way to have all loco's that appear in a scenario, when you open the scenario, to have them all appear with engines NOT running. As an example, if you have the VNHRR v2 route by Michael Stephan, open the scenario "Springfield Freeroam, and you will find, IIRC, 4 different loco's that you can choose from, all of them with engines running. Is it possible to configure all of those loco's to have their engines NOT running when you open the scenario and give you, the player, the ability to start the engine of the loco you select?

Thanks

Chris
