TS 2015 Lighting Upgrade Proposal

Unread postby SithMurcielago » Sat Dec 07, 2013 11:46 pm

So Ladies and Gents, as I was doing a freight run on the Pacific Surfliner something kinda came to me as I was sitting in the cab and wondering "why are my headlight's cast so bright and far in the daylight?"

Its true that having this sort of thing project a long and wide cast on the tracks and against objects can take a beating on some computers especially on urban routes like the aforementioned. So I was thinking for the next TS 2015 upgrade release should feature "Light Transitions." i think you know where I'm going with this so I will make a long story short. The darker the atmosphere Light, The brighter the cast and length of headlights and vice versa. This is also includes projections in tunnels, underpasses etc.

For now what the expert scripters can do is use the secondary light mode (which doesn't get used much), is have the main headlights not project nor cast any light which will maintain the realism but be easier on people's computers like mine. I think this sort of thing will further improve the realism of the game and be beneficial to fps. i think its all about being economical now with the game while continuing to push the development of this game.

Chime in and give me your opinion.

I just turn it off a lot when I'm 'in cab' mode because it often hard to see the switch stands so I think that would be a great idea.

My opinion is that is it is way too early to start talking about TS 2015 when we still do not know what we have in TS 2014. Not to mention we moaned for years about lights and now have them and you want them changed, again. I'd like to enjoy what I have for a while before moving on to the next iteration.

The current headlights are much better than what we used to have (no headlights) but could be better, of course.

This is indeed doable by builders now. Do you remember which engines have this feature?
This is a more realistic solution because it doesn't involve RSC.

As it stands all the Default stock can have this installed and I believe a;; of the RSC Freight Locomotives and a few Passenger ones can have this.

I agree with you 100 percent, but the fact of the matter is you and I both know if this was a actual thing that was going to be done something like this wouldn't be saved until the next upgrade. Which is mind its not a must have at this moment but that is why i inserted the last paragraph is always something that can be done right away. So this post was looking ahead to the future a "little early." So hopefully the words said here will get some consideration from everyone.
