German steam available?

Unread postby kpp80202 » Mon Dec 20, 2010 11:59 am

I would love to play around with German steam locomotives on RW, and wonder what's available out there. I read on this site about a BR52, and will likely buy that, but I'd really like some tank locos and an 01 Pacific. I saw a German language site that may have some, but since I don't know German and there was no translation page, I am not really sure. Can anyone help? Thanks! (And still waiting for my RW software to show up--just a few more days...)

Hi Kevin, the BR52 is already part of default rolling stock in two liveries, Deutsche Reichsbahn and Österreichische Bundesbahn (ÖBB; austrian railways). The developers Eisenbahnwerk made a second tender variant available on their homepage as free download with donation option, scroll down to the bottom there is the download link: http://eisenbahnwerk.de/wannentender.html
Then there is the BR38 built by astauder available for download here: http://rail-sim.de/railsimnew/index.php ... oad/66/338 (blue/green button on the right *!!wink!!* )
I'm no Steam fan so I haven't driven it, but the comments on the forum there are good. Might be worth a try. Just from the readme file it is not clear if any pre-built scenarios are included.
If you need any help translating just give me the link and I can point you in the right direction !*salute*!

Apart from these two there sadly is no other german steam and also very little other german content available at the moment. But to give the two locos the right tracks to drive on get SADs Altenburg - Wildau route! Really beautiful modelled and some good scenarios for it available on the site, too. Easter SteamPart 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 gets you on board a BR52 ;)
