Pacific Surfliner Brakes

Unread postby JohnS » Sun Dec 21, 2014 5:10 pm

I have upgraded/changed the braking system on the Pacific Surfliner trainset. I have Fixed the gauge needles so they correspond with the correct pressures. I have also fixed all the coaches so the systems match and the cabcar braking system is fixed also. My question is would these be a welcomed upload and how would I zip these up so installation would be easy for downloaders? Many files have been changed. I am currently working on the Coaster set and the Metrolink set. I know there has been a physics upgrade posted and I'm not sure if these would affect those.

Thank you
John

I think it is best to work together with Fanrailer to get both of your mods in one package.

One person changes the engine.bin and simulation.bin files, and another changes them again. For the average user it will end a mess of broken or imcompatible files.

If you two cannot reach an agreement of cooperation, by all means upload your files. Experienced bin hackers can put both files together into one new file for their own installation.

It's great news if you can solve this braking problem.
I have not played this route since I bought it, because of this bug.

I have fixed the Surfliner set. I have the Coaster engine done alone with the coaches but I haven't finished the cabcar. I have PM'd FanRailer in hopes to put the Physics and my brake fix in one pack. Now if people want them separate we may be able to work that out as well.

If I may ask, what was the solution to the brakes problem?

For the most part none of the pressures where correct. They 110 passenger pressure settings mixed with 90 freight pressures. So I got all the pressures correct I fixed naming of the neddle animations. It was a lot of trial and error then comparing bin files. I'm having lots of trouble with the Coaster and Metrolink cabcars because it seems like one of the needle animations never converted. In the bin file its showing an .lA file link and from what I've read this file should have been created when something was exported from what ever 3d software they used. I'll keep at it.

Well I have everything working on the Coaster pack except for the Brake Pipe gauge. It seems that in both the Coaster and Metrolink packs that the animation for this needle wasn't exported in 3Ds Max. The needle is there and referenced but the .ban animation is missing. I have tried substitutes but nothing has worked. !*don-know!*

The brake fix for the Surfliner has been incorporated into the Amtrak California F59PHI Physics Mod pack: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=12973
