Looking good. The updated Acela, some of the screenshots also feature the new weather effects.

Notice how the buildings don't fade even though there is a cloudy sky.

It would be great if that soupy thick dark blue fog would be changed on older routes, too. For example I was playing some scenarios for Sherman Hill which was set on a sunny summer afternoon, but the terrain fades off into that dark blue fog that doesn't look right at all.

What screenshots? !*don-know!*
In the screenshots shown in this article I do not see any new weather effect. These screenshots are taken from the current version of the simulator (TS2014). Clouds and skies remain the same as we have today.

The screenshot I displayed above, for example. In TS14 when there are clouds or fog the buildings fade too. The lighting in Gary's screenshots is also different than TS14.

RSC has posted a lot of screenshots (keep in mind that they're all WIP) at their Facebook site and 5 articles so far at their Engine Driver site, one of which describes the new sky effects and includes screenshots. Of course, none of us can post shots of an upgrade we don't have yet, but just take a walk to another site.

On Monday the 15th Sept we will be releasing a patch for Train Simulator 2014 in preparation for the release of Train Simulator 2015. The patch is to update content listings so that they appear in the new TS2015 menu system. The size of the patch will vary depending upon how many routes you own. We would advise that you back up any third-party DLC or content you have created yourself.

The 6th article on Engine Driver: http://www.engine-driver.com/article/show/4842/ts2015-preview-route-updates

From that article: "Train lighting configurations

In TS2014, most locomotives and trains had simple head or tail light configurations, controlled either by a single key press or by a restricted in-cab switch. In TS2015, more lighting configurations have been opened up, which can still be selected via the ‘H’ key or the HUD headlight button, but subsequent key presses or HUD button clicks will scroll through the available lighting configurations (e.g. for day or night running)."

It doesn't go into much detail regarding US content, but it could be a step forwards with the updated Acela and future new models.
Dim and Bright headlights at the flick of a switch?

Wonder wether the ACS64 will be updated along with NYC-NH? Or will the updated Acela be the default stock? Will find out in a couple of days.

It is good news. It means that in locos such as the Connie and FEF-3, where you currently have to use the Advanced version and in-cab controls to select the dim setting for the headlights, while the HUD version has just Off or Bright, the two versions can be made to work the same. Too late for the FEF-3 though (maybe I'll address it in a future patch).

I could imagine with the ES44 will get a feature of Dim Headlights, also the SD70's, but I guess its only from the Acela and a few other locos.

I seem to keep reading over and over how y'all hope/ wish/ dream that these new effects make there way into older "stuff" in the form of updates.................. umm, I really doubt it, at least on a huge scale. One-off here and there, and of course third party mods (if indeed any of the new effects upcoming in TS2015 at all can be added to the older "stuff").

I'll just sit tight and see how much breaks this time. The less the better, but stuff will break. Got my "steamapps"/ common/ Railworks (and Documents) backed up nice and safe. !!*ok*!!

Just received an update of 48.1 MB.
After receiving this "patch" I have discovered that the Northeast Corridor route is missing.

I edit: From their facebook announcement:
DTG wrote:Thank you to everyone who got in touch about the Northeast Corridor not appearing in the new file structure. This appears to be due to a upload error with those files. Basically, the NEC menu data is missing. We are just updating it and then Steam will update again with the correct information. Sorry for any problems this might have caused.

On my install, the whole contents of route folder 00000030 have been erased, apart from the scenarios. No .ap asset pack has been delivered yet.
I have the NEC picture still in the Drive by Route screen, but trying to run a train takes me to in-game shop. Wonder if Steam sees that I have already bought it later in the checkout?
Yes it does. Better be careful in any case you've bought a lot of routes over the years.

I was expecting that all current routes would be repackaged, but a lot are still in files and folder. Many files and folders are stamped Sept. 8.

These kind of goofups have happened before, and the problem is already known to DTG. It will get sorted, but will probably take some time.

I'll be keeping my ts2014 offline for a few weeks and update to ts2015 only after things get sorted out(and I always keep backups, but it can be a pain in the butt to restore stuff)so I'll just wait and see-- keeping a close watch on the forums.
