Except that is simulated.
I don't have time right now, because I have to leave soon, but I'll post pics up later.

No, I don't use vsync. I bump up the AA which lowers the frame rates, and gets rid of the tearing.

The 2015 update lowered my setting which is why I noticed it lately. All my other games are fine. *!!wink!!*

Well... I just learned why every shot of screen tearing I've seen is imitated.
It's because it won't show up in a screen shot. The software takes a nice clean "whole" frame and saves that, not the overlapping ones that cause the tearing.
I'm sure a professional knows how to get a shot of real tearing in action, but alas, not I.
Long story short, is that I get low fps tearing.
Others get that too, they just see it as stuttering.

Here is an excellent video demonstration of what I'm suffering from.
Best viewed at You Tube in full screen and high definition.

I believe this to still be on toppic, because the new 3D weather is greatly affecting me and others this way.

Vsync stands for vertical synch, which is what you don't have when you see vertical tearing. You will see it in most video games, but particularly motion games, such as flight or racing simulators, and particularly if the graphics quality is pushing your GPU. If you want to get rid of it, you have to turn on vsync.

Thanks for the tip. Changed all of my routes over to the new 3D weather and looks great.

V-Sync is for FPS *above* 60 (or whatever your monitor's refresh rate is) and only if you are noticing a problem.

Griphos wrote: You will see it in most video games,

Not really, unless of course you're consistently running really high FPS.

Griphos wrote:and particularly if the graphics quality is pushing your GPU.

Quite the opposite. Your card is handling everything to well and is putting out so many frames per second a crappy 60MHz monitor can't handle it. I run dual monitors for iRacing. My crappy monitor was tearing and I couldn't increase the AA because my main monitor was good. I created a custom resolution for the crappy monitor and increased the MHz by 1 until the monitor said it didn't support it. I got it up to 74MHz. That means it's running at 74 FPS wich is closer to what my card is putting out and no ore tearing. !!*ok*!!

You say you have low FPS. Are you sure you are not seeing microstutters? You won't see tearing unless your frame rates are too high.

Ya know why you never see questions about tearing? If your computer is so fast that it tears, you already know what you have to do. !*salute*!

Tearing occurs anytime the monitor's refresh and GPU's output are out of sync.
Oldest myth in gaming and simming, is that tearing only occurs when FPS out run the monitor's refresh rate.

See video above.
And go do some serious amount of reading at Tom's Hardware, Nvidia forums and I can assume AMD forums.

It's not nearly as bad when frame rates drop below the monitor refresh rate Buzz. In that situation, most people notice the stuttering, which is also caused by the monitor and GPU being out of sync. Mostly in that situation, I see it when the wipers are on and I turn my view in cab.

I've heard of people running 144Hz monitors and locking a game or sim at 30 - 40Hz. That is supposed to almost eliminate tearing because the GPU isn't rendering frames nearly fast enough, against a 144Hz refresh. Basically few frames have time to overlap.

I can't wait to get old enough, that I can't see these things anymore, or care... !*roll-laugh*!

Whilst y'all are bustin' each others chops about what tearing is and what causes it and FF and AA and XXBBCC x2 x3 x4 x19, I've been running TS2015 with the new weather and it's really pretty nice. !!*ok*!!

Good to see something positive (other than "this sim is positively broken, but keep in mind, Chris, that you have something that a lot of our fellow posters apparently lack: a life.
