C39-8 Clear Window Patch

I apologize I just don't have the skills, but could someone with the know-how make a clear window patch for the C39-8? I understand why Jerry tinted his windows, but in trying to keep things from being unrealistically bright they become unrealistically dark, and I'd rather have the bright. Just throwin' it out there...

I believe it's in the library. If you can't find it post back here.

Hey Buzz, there is a patch for the U30C but I couldn't find one for the C39-8. A while back I did PM thor1969, the person who did that patch. At the time he didn't have the C39-8 so he asked me to send him the window texture files, but I couldn't figure out how to find them. He said to look for files named windiff, winwmotion or windows.tgpcdx, but I searched and searched and couldn't find anything related to windows. I'm just not savvy with this stuff...

Those texture names were just a guideline placeholder used by DTG. You could actually name them anything. For reference, the window textures for the C39-8 are the following:

C39WinTextures copy.jpg

Take note that the NMC textures are uncompressed to keep artifacting on the windows to a minimum. If you make an ACE during Asset creation and give it the "_nm" suffix, the Asset Editor will automatically create the uncompressed copy during export of the final product to the game.

Sorry read that too fast.

After long trying I have been able to create a texture set that at least for me is s in some way acceptable. Do not know if VRC uses some special settings of the shaders or someting, but the result is more see through but also in some way produces shiny or bright glass....you may try and see if it is useful for you.
Here they are:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhmLWyeq-a6oi5NPtks ... A?e=iekOc5

Updated link January, 26th 2020, with a documentation for modifying the Geo files of the model - please do this only if you have some experience with RWTools. Sidewindows still darker than front and rear windows - hoping to ge this fixed also .

I assume you make a backup of the files before, anyhow a safe approach is to have the addon uninstalled and install it again by using the STEAM client if you missed a backup and o no like the replacement textures.
Installation:

Open the archive and put the two files in the following path in your TS2020 installation:
Assets\VRC\Dash8_00\RailVehicles\Diesel\C398\NS01\Engine1\Textures
Assets\VRC\Dash8_00\RailVehicles\Diesel\C398\NS01\Engine2\Textures
Assets\VRC\Dash8_00\RailVehicles\Diesel\C398\CR01\Engine1\Textures

Confirm overwrite and try out the new view.
