There is a lot of love going into this, which makes me wonder if PapaXpress is doing the details. I'm not dishing anyone else at VRC, but Papa is an S.P. man like me. *!greengrin!*

Um... No you have to thank Jerry. Though I did point him to some of the details that SP loved to weld on to their engines.

There should be a roof mounted Mars light, like in this photograph:

Geesh. Are you the one that proposed on Facebook? *!embar*!

Settle down folks, it' early WIP. Just needed something a little different. As for the gyra and bell, they were baked and placed this morning. It needs roof vents too.

DUH

And much much more. Why on earth do you think I would missing something as SP as that? Why are you nitpicking with a teaser screenshot? Go grab your popcorn and watch the trailers. The show has not started yet.

Sorry, Papa, don't lift your pop valves. *!lol!*

Why did SP mount the Mars light on the roof, was a notch in the pug nose not an option available from GE? Were these engines leased or bought, perhaps with leased engines a certain common design had to be agreed and any options should be "bolt on" only?

Here the loco is photographed in Tehachapi, so it is a must buy for me once it becomes available in Europe.

SP was notorious for for their nose jobs, so I doubt it was the welding touch holding them back. I think their stint with the MARS lights on the roof was because they were testing where it would be best visible. Remember that the SW/NWs and early geeps all had high mounted MARs lights.

Moved to the VRC forum.

Not to take anything away from RWA, but if you want to see the latest and greatest about this and other projects we are working on, check out the Virtual Rail Creations page on Facebook. RWA is home and we get a lot of great feedback and info from here, but I post to FB more often because it's always on and takes just a second or two to shoot a photo up there from my phone. Also, I sometimes post more in-depth "backstory" info there, such as the photos of the bell and gyra lights. Just know ahead of time that comments are screened before being shown. We don't mind the critique of the products, as sometimes it can be helpful, but we've got to try at least to keep a somewhat decent atmosphere for the younger folks.

Ok, now I've got these cab vent thingys. I'm assuming they work the same way, by catching and forcing outside air in, as the ones i've seen on the sides of a GP40-2 cab. Does anyone know how they actually work?

It's a curved lever that you push through a slot. The curved iron is what pushes the vent out at an angle.
Also it's a gyralight, not a MARS light. Personal peeve of mine.

I get the same way when folks refer to whatever F-Unit as an "F7". *!rolleyes!*

WIP aside, fantastic job thus far on the model and paint, Jerry! :D
Cheers!
