Switching cabs?

Can't understang proper switchig cab procedure.

Scenario Helping hand.
I'm in unit No. 1, drove to the destination as usual. Then I need to change direction.
I set the train brake, set the reverser to neutral position, turn off the lights and switch cab to unit No.2.

Then I hear alarm and engine going down. Alarm continues to sound, since isolation switch is in run position.
I start the engine again (with Z key). Once power is restored, alarm cuts off, but reverser in trailing engine is in "forward" position. Why? it should be in neutral on any trailing units. That's a little bit confusing.

That's why I see separate startup and shutdown for multiple engines is desirable - so it doesnt do unexpected shutdowns when you moving along the train to other units.

You neglected to provide some essential information: 1) identity of loco being driven, 2) name of scenario, 3) name of route.

Isn't engine script the same for all GP40-2 locos?

Scenario is "Helping Hand"(AS) for Horseshoe Curve. Both are YN3 with dynamic brake
