Thanks for Peeing off another one Hyland. I hope the tree's tall enough for you to be strung up on.

I've had dealings with this kid too, about two and a half years ago. He called me all sorts of names for not making my locos freeware. At first I thought he was joking, but he got more and more aggressive in his posts. At one point, when I'd tried for the umpteenth time to explain to him, politely, that making models for TS is virtually my only source of income and that they are actually very cheap if you consider the man-hours that go into making them, he suggested I should still make them for free and get a different job, and that I was a bad person for making people pay for them! He even tried to cause trouble for me by writing to Dovetail with some totally fabricated complaint. He's also the only person I've ever needed to ban from my Facebook page.

Sounds like a bad case of entitlement mentality. Most unfortunate the negative ripples that spread from such behavior.

I am pretty incensed about this. I was actually pitying the guy, feeling sorry that i spoke that way - until people started sending me emails and screenshots of what he has been up to. It is trolling and harassment, plain and simple.

If you have something to say about this, then be careful of what you say. I would ask that if you have been food for this guy, send me emails and screen shots of the things he has been saying. I am seriously contemplating legal action, and if nothing else at least contacting his ISP.

Is the same Justin Hyland that gave Sibell grief? She had great stuff. I miss it. Is he still a member of this forum?

I have an entire folder full of his crap along with a false DMCA claim he filed against us.. This kid's a attention seeking, software pirating troll and ignoring him turned out to work best as I've learned personally.

The situation is resolved, for now. I WILL be watching though, whether it be me or someone else it happens to.

I have many thoughts about this but I will try to keep it brief. Jerry, since you are reading this, here it goes. I purchased you route early-on,as I was thrilled to see a prototype North American route, when there were so few in the early days. I thought it was great you had gone to the trouble to document your locomotive-building. I was even more thrilled when you announced, then released the GP-40 packs. An I suggested you have a non-dynamic version,as that is what I needed to re skin for my road, and you did. You have since moved on to locomotives that are not as useful on the routes I am working on. I still appreciate the trouble you are going to,in order to make them the best possible. You commented some time ago,the GP 40's were not as good as your newer efforts. They are still better than nearly anything else out there. They are pretty straight-forward to re-paint. I hate that this "kid",has discouraged you so much, when there are many of us that are so thankful for what you have done. I did have a few question related to BIN files, but it seemed the only way to contact you was through Facebook,as you deleted your ability to me messaged directly through this site.
As far as 2017 content "tanking",how much of the fact it is Spring figure into this? There are very few add-ons that I personally can use,if it is not 1960's or 70's era. I am not dropping 8 years of route development for TSW. So I hope VRC stays around, even though I get that it is not very rewarding.

A search for his name brings up the past thread, it seems it was mostly handled elsewhere and RWA just got updates on the matter from a few of the involved parties.

It was Justin. Post from Sibell: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=16463&hilit=justin+hyland&start=15#p188030

Water under the bridge hopefully. He is a marked man and his actions will shape his destiny.

Like I said earlier, we aint going away, just moving on from direct sales, which will actually be better for everyone since the standards for quality will be higher, and will enable us to spend time on making models rather than the mundane tasks that come aling with running a web store.

Thank you for staying in the game. Great products. It should be more enjoyable to do the artistic endeavors and leave the additional retail hassles behind. More time with the family and backyard BBQs. !*cheers*!

My thoughts echo this. The GP40 was one of the best things to come to this sim in a time I was seriously taking a look at other sims in terms of realism when it first came out. It has cemented me with this sim much like MSTS did many years ago before I though it lost the edge in new features. Even TSW lacks what you have added to these units in many ways. As my 10 year old recently summed up his thoughts of the new sim after a few hours worth of use. "Dad this thing is too shiny and boring, I can't build my own world anymore like Minecraft and I can't even paint new engines and train cars with you." "Most of all I am tired of walking all the time in the game, it's not fun anymore." This coming from a kid who memorized the startup procedure for a payware Bell 222 helicopter for FSX when he was five and started his sim career really early. How easily a 10 year old conveyed my own thoughts in which I did the grown up thing and explained the nice folks at DTG are still working on this new program however it may be a while before it is as polished as his old sim with the same features he loves along with his dad. I have no intention of throwing away my own route development either or the dozens of repaints I have done for it. We have your CSX C30-7 which I am slowly turning into a BC Rail C36-8M. They are ex Conrail C30-7 units acquired by BC Rail, rebuilt by GE, Helm and Metro East in 1999 with Dash8 electronics and new EFI engines, one of the few C30-7s across North America which got a second life. Jerry, your work in the best tradition of this hobby has kept things fun which I find lacking in many of the products released. We need more guys like you in this hobby that is seriously lacking the talent it could have because of scenarios like you just went through. Having done my own period in the payware side off and on for several years, trolls are everywhere and it is a matter of ignoring. I once had a certain troll threaten to sue me for not finishing the payware E&N route I was making years ago. It is all a matter of ignoring and if you can do that, then you can enjoy what you do and guys like this will disappear. If not, there are tools some of us can provide or recommend for getting rid of them.
