Lakeside Route New Year's Modifications.

I've been operating and modifying the Lakeside Route for over a year now. Like a model railroader, I often find myself adding to the route more than I run trains over it. I almost wish it was a tangible model railroad so I could host operating sessions, as I rarely have enough time to do anything more than get a train from point A to point B before I have to quit and deal with the real world. With a new job I barely even have time to do that anymore. Luckily the holidays have allowed me enough time off to make some modifications to my 1956 Lakeside Route, welcoming in the virtual 1957 New Year.

One of the biggest modifications I made was expanding Waterton yard for a third time; adding a car repair shop, yard lights, shop access road, and three additional tracks on the East side of the yard, as well as a TOFC ramp and freight depot on the West side of the yard.

West Waterton has also seen a minor expansion as the Atlantic Grain Company put up an elevator on a previously unused spur. I also added operational train order boards in West Waterton and Ridout. Along the route I added additional houses, garages, misc scenery, and even some Wig-Wag Signals.

Sometimes small additions make a big difference. I put the Thompson's Country Store add-on (found in the file library) at the East end of Ridout to add some more visual interest to a rather rural scene.

As time permits I will likely modify the route more until I either tire myself out or find a new route to work on.

Happy New Year to all!

Nicely done! We hoped people would make it their own.

Those look amazing!

Apparently you and I have a knack for adding things in the same spot:

Although I didn't get a shot of Riverside we used the EXACT SAME gate setup (quad gates) to protect the station crossing!

Simply Incredible!
