Unloading Hoppers, Woodchip Gons and Ore Cars?

Unread postby gtw5812 » Mon Jun 16, 2014 12:14 pm

Is there anywhere to unload these type of cars? I have tried to unload wood chips at Michigan Paper, coal at UP Coal, and ore at the ore docks, but to no avail. I load ore at Gogebic Mines, but can't find any place to dump. I load wood chips at Adkins, but can't dump anywhere? Am I missing or doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Galen

I have to throw in with GTW's observation. Why were the Unload Transfer Points left out of the RWA Lakeside route? It seems to me that it would open up a myriad of scenario possibilities with Unloadable Goods Wagons. IIRC, Even the old Bay Of Quinte and the old Industrial Interactive Route had unloadable hopper cars of gravel, sand, and coal commodities. We "switching puzzle" officianatos would sure enjoy those kinds of scenario opportunities.

I think I recall Rick saying that it would be possible for us "civilians" to upgrade The Lakeside Route and that the changes would remain permanent. So, how about that?

ArizonaChris and OldProf

Thanks for reminding me - I remember reading OldProf's response in the other referenced thread.

IMHO, It's too bad that we lack the "Unload Transfer Points" that would match up with the "Load Transfer Points" for all the Merchandize that fill up our Goods Wagons. We could build many very interesting scenarios that would be self-contained on The Lakeside Route.

So, at the moment we have to end our currently available scenarios with strings of loaded freight cars at the destination sidings. I guess we can imagine that the cars will be unloaded in the future by the local factory crews.

But, come to think of it, OTOH we could also make up trains, at the interchange yards connected to the outside loop, of locally loaded freight cars for pick up by a foreign railroad destined for the outside world. So, we don't really need to unload our loaded cars locally - the contents will be unloaded at a foreign destination.

OK, I can live with that...
