Community members are encouraged to provide file library uploads containing modifications and additions to the route and its assets. If you do upload something, this forum would be a good place to let the rest of us know about it.
Wish list items are also welcome. If you would like to see an added feature or modification to the route but are unable to create the necessary files yourself, post your ideas here. Perhaps somebody else will be inspired to follow through on it. Some ideas may be impractical or even impossible, but you'll never know unless you post.
Remember that since the RW&A is independently distributed it is not affected by Steam updates, so any modifications you download and install will be permanent. Therefore, it is advisable for you to back up your files in case you wish to revert to an earlier version.
Speciai Notes:
Every route has a file called Tracks.bin which is the common track database. Tracks.bin contains the path information for the entire route and several interrelated items are defined within it including: tracks, obviously; signals; speed posts; and load/unload interactives. The RW&A route is equipped with many non-prototypical dwarf signals and hidden message blockers which are necessary to make the AI train system work. These features are also defined in Tracks.bin. Modifications to trackwork should take all of these features into account.
Be aware of two things if you download route modifications that include changes to Tracks.bin. First, there is a good possibility that modifications which affect Tracks.bin will break existing scenarios. Second, you may find it difficult to restore the route to its original state if something goes wrong.
Those of you who wish to modify the route in a way that affects Tracks.bin should consider doing so in a clone of the route. You should also include words of caution along the lines of the above in your documentation.
You have been warned (in what I hope is a friendly way). Neither the route authors nor the management and staff of Railworks America will accept responsibility for unintended consequences arising from route modifications.
