Good Morning:

I have been using the StoreThem program and had something strange happen. I had only the Lakeside route unstored and thought that I would trade some GP38s for some of the Alcos. What I did was I started StoreThem and clicked on JCornell and hit the Restore Selected button and everything looked great. Then I used RW_Tools to swap out one of the AI units and when I started the sim everything went great but the GP38s did not have couplers. So my question is, how can I find out which asset I need to unstore to get the couplers to appear.

Thanks for you help.

I would think that StoreThem has to 'learn' about the change you made to the scenario, so that it would know about the required couplers.

Perhaps you should:

1) make the engine swap;
2) store the route (and I guess that stores the scenario?)
3) go to the .ap tab in Storethem and do the search for scenario.xml files again
4) restore the route.

On the other hand, I could be totally wrong!

Thanks for the reply.

I tried what you advised but since neither the Lakeside route or JCornell units are in a ap file that did not seem to work. After I stored all routes and assets and then unstored the lakeside route. The assets in the left window did not include JCornell assets.

Back to scratching head.

I don't think the advice above is correct. If the scenario file was unpacked, the game will save any change in the unpacked file.

For couplers and other oft-used assets, leave them unstored after you have found them.
They may be britkits couplers, btw.

Thanks for the help.

I unstored all of BritKits stuff and still no joy. So I unstored everything and now the couplers are still gone. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks again.

They are probably using the default Kuju Coupler eh? The GP38 is pretty old stuff. Kuju/RailsimulatorUS is going to need to be active or parts of it anyway.

I have downloaded and installed the Storethem program. However, I can't make it work for me because the pages don't show the selection buttons at the bottom of the page. I've tried different resolutions to the screen to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Nope, that didn't work.

The page is cut off right at the lower edge of the data listing. There is no slider at the right side of the screen to move the body of the page content up and down. Like at the right edge of this page.

Thanks Bob, that did the trick. Since the Lakeside route does not use any KuJu assets I had to turn them on and now it works fine.

Thanks again

Mike has a thread on this software on UKTrainsim that may answer some of your questions http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=137869 .
Alan

My railway photos are back - you can access them from this thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=21667a . Lots of UK steam and early diesels from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Thanks Alan, I looked at that forum and there were seveal posts with my problem with the program. None of the suggestions worked for my monitor.

Seems the program is lacking a page scroll bar at the right side edge of the page, that would solve a lot of the problem.

Thanks for all the interest here. As Bob has mentioned, this is still a work in progress which is why I only mentioned the program on uktrainsim.com in the first instance before a few things have been cleaned up.

It is now quite stable, and I am in the process of replicating the buttons along the bottom of the screen with menu items because some people have had problems seeing the whole screen. Unfortunately some users appear to use quite old monitors which have already involved me in two rewrites of the screen, (Originally the buttons were on the right of the screen, but then those without widescreen monitors complained, so I moved them to the bottom and still complaints, even though they render fine on my old laptop with a 1280*800 pixel 15" screen.)

If someone is building a route, then they can manually restore Assets by putting a tick in front of them and clicking the 'Restore Selected Asset' button. The assets would then be available for route building, alternatively they could just select the route they were working on, but restore all the assets, then they could build to their hearts content.

Mike, what happens if a route uses assets that are archived in an. ap file?

I really do appreciate this utility. I've been using it a fair bit. One thing I've noticed is that if I have used RW_Tools to switch out some stock on a route like China Clay, when I restore that route, it doesn't necessarily restore the correct assets. The scenario lists the new assets, but I had to manually restore them, checking the scenarios one by one.

Any idea about why that might be?

This is a fantastic tool overall, though. I'll be sending in a donation. Thanks.
