Have a look at the real thing in action.

Somewhat softer exhaust than U would have thought; nothing like 1522, but umpressive none the less.

Very much looking forward to getting my hands on this one...

Big Jim actually has a different exhaust note to a standard S160 due to chimney/blast pipe modifications. The add-on will come with a chuff set from Big Jim for the Grey preserved livery as well as the more "standard" S160 chuffs for the others.

Looking great! Love to see all the progress and the many different varieties for this locomotive !!*ok*!!
Will the European style buffers be present on the final U.S. version of the locomotive?

Thank you. The buffers will not be present (or will be optional) on specific US liveries. We were quite surprised to find that the original shipments came with buffers and that they weren't added later - they were produced with the European theatre in mind (primarily using hook couplings) so they had buffers fitted , but they still had US buckeye couplings so they could be moved onto the ships for transport out of the USA, and then had hooks added overseas.

That post is amazing - thanks for the update. You really seem to have thought of everything, including the ones packed for shipping - that is a great touch **!!bow!!** It is marked as static - does that mean it is just a scenery item or can it be coupled and hauled in a freight consist? It would look great with some of the Flats & tanks and flats & trucks from the VNHRR?

It's a non-driveable loco, so can easily be placed on track and in consists.

What were they thinking!! This livery of the S160 from the Longmoor Military Railway leaves much to be desired as loco liveries go

ps: am I the only one following the development on this project? I am either the only one or I talk too much, I am not sure which yet... !*don-know!*

Well I really appreciate your feedback so thank you to everyone who's talking away :D

Quite a big question coming up and one I expect all of you can answer far better than I can.
Bearing in mind there will be specific liveries for Alaska RR and the Black/Yellow as seen on the US Army locos, when we think about scenarios what DTG route would you prefer? Any ideas for scenarios (I guess they're all going to be semi-fictional rail/photo tours?) would also be gratefully received. The Alaska RR will have the option for a snow plough and it seems obvious to do something on a snow covered route?

Closest thing they have would be Stevens Pass for something like Alaska Railroad to be feasible. Could do a test run of a restoration project that will eventually be shipped to Alaska or something.

The newly posted livery pic looks pretty good - that shade of green does suit and is loads better than the blue/purple of Longmoor.
It is going to be interesting to see what US liveries make the grade

It's so weird seeing an American locomotive painted in BR colors. All in all, they look sweet.
"If you really needed a diesel locomotive right away, then go ahead and order a ALCO. But if you could wait for real quality, then go for an EMD or a GE".

I'm following it with much interest as well, but I'm following more via the Victory Works Facebook and skype calls with other foamers err, enthusiasts.

These things are looking utterly fantastic. I'm already sold and we haven't even seen the US version yet.
