This has to be one of the most worthwhile sim purchases i've made in a while, top notch !!*ok*!! The amount of amazing content here is baffling.

I really love the US-style whistle on the British models, especially the little short blasts. Is it possible to alter the audio files so the American engines also have the "British" whistle? I tried poking around the audio xml files but the audio appears to be set up in a way I haven't seen before.

Anyhow, great work !*salute*!

Yeah we managed to leave those files out of the export somehow *!embar*! That will be added along with a few fixes we're working on right now.

Thank you very much. It started out pretty big in scope, and then just got bigger and bigger! We had people from all over the world contacting us to help out and we wanted to thank them by including something for all of them. Even then we had to leave out OBB, Italy and some others as it was just getting out of hand!
For the whistles on US locos you can select which one you want fitted using the scenario loco number. p49 and 50 of the manual cover it, but basically you need to change the character which selects the whistle, so on the US Army loco it's the 5th character and O gives you an Original whistle and V gives you the Vertical US style. The default numbering list is all set to use V but if you wanted to edit it so they all use O then you can, or just change any loco on an add-hoc basis.
Just be aware that each livery has it's own set of options so check the manual.
There is also a small bug where some liveries are not using the correct whistle sounds on Quick Drives despite showing the selected whistle - we're just fixing that one right now !!*ok*!!

Good to hear the fixes are on the way. I can understand there being a few little niggles to work out with something this big. Even then, this is still a downright fantastic pack! I have never been disappointed in purchasing a Victory Works pack and this is no exception. Excellent work Pete! !*brav*!

If you haven't got the S160 yet it's now on sale on Steam for the next week (August 25 to September 2) for 30% off.

Sorry in advance for dredging this old topic, but I have a compliment and a question:

This locomotive is nothing short of outstanding! It is a joy to run this humble engine, and I cannot overemphasize how much I love the dynamic whistle setup. I wish that every steam engine in train sim had the same whistle mode, it adds a whole dimension of realism. Since I bought it a couple weeks ago, I've been having a ton of fun running the S160 (as operated by the Alaska RR) up and down the VNHRR - Springfield line. The locomotive is very much at home doing commuter service on the route. Thank you, thank you to everyone involved with this project.

I am unable to get the engine past 52 miles per hour. Is this normal? My hunch is this must be correct, the size of the loco's wheels (and knowing its historic background) suggest that the engine is made for hauling heavy loads at medium-speed. But I would be surprised that a medium-size American steam engine built as late as the 1940s would be unable to hit 60 miles per hour. Especially when pulling a load of 5 passenger carriages on straight flat track. Try as I might with any combination of the throttle and reverser, the engine refuses to go above 52.

Is this prototypical or am I doing something wrong?

Hoping somebody with this add on can help me out here. It is a great looking add on, however, I would like a plain un-lined / un-logo'd version for use on lines other than the Alaska. Reading the manual hints that you can supress the road name in the tender number, but I was hoping somebody could confirm this. I have hunted about and not managed to find a vid or screenie that shows a plain black tender. I am just trying to find some "generic" steam to help populate the new B&LE when it arrives.

*!!thnx!!*

!*cheers*!
