Reduce engine wav files volume

Unread postby miata54 » Sun Jul 25, 2021 12:32 pm

I have just done a swap of the DTM engine sounds for the Alco DL-109. I don't consider DTM's offering anything like what the 109 originally sounded like. After the swap using sound files from Dogmouse's S2, I find that the volume of the engine sounds is too loud to adequately hear the Leslie from a sound mod I found in the library by an author who only identifies himself as "Drizz". No accompanying info as to who he is. I would like to know how to increase the horn and bell volume or decrease the engine sound wav files. Either way would work. The engine sound file swap did require modification to the 539T Engine sound proxyxml file from the original AP folder from DTM via Steam.

Thanks

AudioControl.proxybin. You need to turn the number up to make it softer and down to make it louder. It's the base volume line and you can use decimal numbers to make adjustments. It's kind of a trial and error until you get the match you want.

What do you use to open a BIN file?

Buzz:

Entering some new territory here. Please bear/stay with me.

Download/installed TS Tools. I had RW Tools. Never knew about TS Tools. Extracted both Routes and Scenario's properties as required.

Question: Is a Proxyxml file a readable/adjustable form of a Proxybin file?

Could you copy/paste a line from any Proxybin file or Proxyxml file that I should be targeting for engine volume revision?

Thanks
Chris

There is a misunderstanding here.
Normally railworks.exe only reads *.bin files and the associated files (greatly simplified).
In case of proxy files for controlling sounds the TS reads only the *.proxyxml and NOT the *.proxybin.
If the proxyxml is missing then it remains silent even if a proxybin is present !
=> You never need serz to change something regarding the proxies.
