Amtrak P42DC Empire Builder Remake 2014 Sound replacement

Hey guys, I could replaced the audio file from old Amtrak P42DC genesis before it was removed from the steam. I changed the horn, bell and the engine sound to better quality... more realistic because the default one was horrible... it was so unreal. Anyway now that Amtrak P42DC is back on steam and for some odd reason I can't seem to replace the audio file I don't like the default Horn and Bell. I have a modify K5LA and E-Bell. But when I use 7z zip it works to open the audio files but when I replace with the modify one and play the game it stills uses default sounds. How is that possible? It said overwrite and it did but I noticed the files where it should be replaced it was still in the folder so... I deleted the default Horn and bell sounds to replace with the modify one. However it stills plays the default sound in-game.

I can't figure it out what I'm doing wrong?

Did you look in the cabview (I think) bin file to see what it is using?

I did replace the files in Cab folder. Hell I even replaced the whole folder in Cab with the old Amtrak P42DC from G-trax including modify sounds files. However it still even plays the default sounds in-game! I don't understand!!!

What else it could be doing this in that folder?

1- Delete the blueprint cache (either using the game menu or delete Assets\RSC\P42Pack01\Blueprints.pak).
2- For proxy audio blueprints, keep both the .proxyxml and the .proxybin files, and make sure they match.
3- proxyxml files must be ASCII text, not Unicode.
4- Keep only the .bin file for all other audio blueprints, discard the .xml files.

That did not work for me...

I think it has to do something with a protected file somehow? !*don-know!*

You are not replacing the file in the .ap archive are you?
Because you can't do that. You have to extract the files, keeping the folder structure intact, then remove the read=only attribute for all extracted files, then you can change them. But don't try to put them back into the archive.

Are you sure? That's all I've ever done and never had a problem. Never fully extracted an .ap file, just picked out random files I needed and drag and dropped new ones in. 7z repacks it and off i go.

OP: Without being in front of my gaming computer, I can tell you I had that problem with the gp38. Turned out instead of replacing the sounds in the gp38 folder, I had to go into the route folder I was running (Sherman Hill) and look for the gp38 audio folder there. Replaced those sounds and went into the game, and bingo, fixed it. I'm not sure if that will work the same for the p42 as I haven't run that loco yet so I don't know how its file structure is.

That's defeating the whole purpose of the archive system.
Also we don't know how RSC / Steam plan to use the archives in the future.

We would hope in a perfecrt world that they would just update the .ap folder and it wouldn't mess with the unzipped stuff. Then we wouldn't have to reload all of our mods since they would be left intact and unchanged unless you re-unzipped (is that a word?) the .ap file.

Okay after hours and hours figuring it out why I can't get sound replacement working and I just found how!

Okay I felt so stupid I had to extract the .ap files to "extract files here" not extract into one folder. All those files had to be opened it up and be in the same files with .ap files. !DUH!

Oh, That's why I said this:

I guess I could have said it more clearly.

I'm having the same problem with the M8 sound pack from "Fan railer". I can't get the sounds to work. I need help as well...

Double check your installation process. 99% of the time, you are not installing the files correctly.
