Krellnut's US Freight Car Sounds-2015

Making, fixing and applying sound files.

It seems to be really strange with the wagons from the F45 pack. Those bulkhead wagons, again, don't have any sound child blueprint inside their BIN files. I tried to add it inside the "ContainerComponent" part as that's where it normally should go to. So I inserted the code correctly for the sound right under the cargo load entry (loaded with planks) for all four bulkhead flats (one empty, three loaded) in its own "EntityContainerBlueprint" group. All tags have been closed.

When I went into the game to test it, the sound appeared and the flats weren't silent but the cargo disappeared! So I had a train with empty flats only although I inserted all four types of those flats into a free roam scenario for testing. When I deleted the sound child blueprint, the cargo appeared again. !*don-know!*

What is going on here? Seems like I can't add the sound to the wagons without losing the cargo load. Can someone help us on that? *!question!*

That's a symptom of bad blueprint editing.
Delete the xml file if it exists, keeping only the bin file.
Edit it using RW-Tools.
Clearthe blueprint cache before running the game.

There are no XML files in my TS installation, I always delete them as soon as I can. I edited the BIN files using RW Tools, so this shouldn't be a problem. I'm editing BIN files for a long time already, so I'm not new at that.

I still don't understand why the cargo disappears. !**conf**!

As I said, this must be caused by an XML problem.
Missing tag, control character, etc.
I suggest you copy/paste the XML code from RW-Tools to an advanced text editor that understands XML and highlights the syntax (such as the free Notepad++), or even use a specialized XML editor with which you can see the XML node tree (I think RW-Tools has such an editor).

Tried that now as well, here are some images of my edited file.

1. This is the original state of the first loaded bulkhead flatcar with planks from the F45 pack.

Image

2. This is the new inserted part (in the red box). This one is added right under closing tag of the "cEntityContainerBlueprint" (</cEntityContainerBlueprint>). The wagon sound is in its own "cEntityContainerBlueprint" group as you can see.

Image

3. This is the XML editor tree view from RW Tools. The first child is the cargo, the second is the wagon sound.

Is there anything I didn't insert correctly?

Looks good to me.
I'm not sure, but it looks like you may have an extra space after "F45Pack01".

Next question:
You have a node cEntityContainerBlueprint-sChild with an ID of 38777.
Check that this ID is unique in the blueprint.

That's how I edited it to make the sound work but still the cargo does not appear.

Nope, it just looks like an extra space. There is none.

The ID is unique in the entire BIN file, it only appears for the wagon sound. I also should mention that the whole wagon sound part is copied over from the box car which is included in the F45 pack as well. So the ID 38777 is the same as on the box car. But that shouldn't be a problem as that's the case with other sound edits made by Ken (or Krellnut). So in general, it's no problem if there are multiple pieces of rolling stock having the same ID in their blueprints for e.g. the wagon sound entry.

I also inserted this wagon sound part to the other bulkhead flats from the F45 pack. So they all have the 38777 number for the wagon sound. Do you think this is problematic?

I don't know.
I'm out of explanations now.
You did empty the blueprint cache (or deleted blueprint.pak)?

Sure thing, I always run a script to delete all trash before and after I run the game. I asked about this issue because I'm out of ideas as well, I never had problems editing BIN files and adding sounds. So is this some kind of buggy mess RSC/DTG created there? No wagon sound to be inserted without losing the cargo?

I took a look at other US wagons which are similar to that bulkhead flat wagon (like centerbeams, other flat wagons etc.). Those do have a group for the wagon sound and the cargo and everything works there. So what's wrong with these flats?

I still think it's a problem caused by manually editing the file.
Due to the nature of XML, the problem could be anywhere in the file.
I suggest you start afresh with the virgin blueprint and try the modification again.

The other possibility is that there is something in the engine scirpt that deactivates your sound child.

There is another possibility.

When I was helping MadMike with the GN BSB heavies we were trying to get a child decal to show. The wagons were from DTG and in their own product folder, but only when I added the child as if it were from Gtrax then it would show. The only reasonable explanation for this was that there was some sort of protection on the model.

I started editing the file in its original state and just inserted that sound child part into it. How can I start over even more?

I'm still lost and don't know what to do. I might upload one BIN file for you guys to check it out yourself (if you own the F45 pack).

I do not hear the sounds on the EmpireBuilderPack01 Freight and SP SD45 Freight wagons. Will you update this sound pack to support the recent releases? (Soldier Summit, AC6000, U36B, and GP30) I have checked the File Library and the Miami .bin files are not present.

I have your US Freight car sound's before and it worked on all my US rolling stock then my computer took a dump on me and i had to have everything wiped and reinstall everything including this and now it only works on the default rolling stock that came in Train Sim 2012 which i don't quite understand since i used the RW_Assetsetup installer the first time and it worked then now it doesn't. *!sad!*
