Missing file

Unread postby ValleyBoy » Thu May 28, 2015 11:52 am

The Route Properties.xml file has gone missing from my Soldier Summit route. The route plays normally in TS2015 but does not show up in RWTools or StoreThem. I have done the verify integrity of cache and clear cache routines twice but this doesn't help. Can anyone help me recover the missing file?

Did you look in the .ap folder?

Buzz456:
I've tried but I can't find out how to open the .ap file.
In all my other routes the Route Properties.xml file appears separately in the file list.

Right click on the .ap file, then open with 7zip (if you have 7zip installed, you select in the 7zip menu "Extract Here").

See my post in the General section of this forum on unpacking .ap files using RW_Tools.

Note that if you use the downloadable version of 7zip to unpack .ap files that they will unpack as 'Read Only' files, so can't be edited etc. Unpacking them with RW_Tools renders them Read/Write automatically.

bloodonfire3- your suggestion is correct; .ap files will open with 7zip when the association is changed and I found the missing file in the .ap folder. Thanks.
mikesimpson- it was not a matter of unpacking and I couldn't do that anyway as the route will not appear in RWTools when the .xml file is missing.

The route will not appear in RW_Tools until you unpack it, and you can of course unpack any/all of your routes in RW_Tools from the Find all .ap files option in the Files menu. Note that there is an option on that screen to allow you to select all of the Routes (which are all named MainContent.ap) and extract just the RouteProperties.xml from each, if you just want to list the routes.
