Possible Scenario Problem

In the scenario 'Mine shuttle" I am frustrated by a red signal at the north end of the wye leading to the mine branch. The signal at the diverging point is yellow and the next is red. Requesting permission to pass gets a negative result and ignoring the signal gives a scenario fail after returning the loaded ore cars to the interchange track.

And as an afterthought, should those ore cars sway as much as they do?

Are you sure you had the switches set correctly? I have run that a couple of times and everything was OK.

I'll have to rerun the scenario and will check.

Only the switches with an animated switchman are automatic. All the rest are manual.
Also try saving and reloading the scenario.

Automated switchman? How have I missed that so far?

Getting back to the original issue, yes, there is a manual switch to set at the point described. This is always worth checking on the 2D map when an otherwise unexplainable red signal occurs.

I had to wait quite awhile last night, for the signal to change to green and had to hit the Tab button about 3 times before I got permission to pass.

I failed that scenario last night, but it was because I cut the caboose loose on mine siding 1 when the train was just coming to a stop. The program interpreted that as not dropping off the ore empties, even though I stopped a few feet later and did drop off all the empties in siding 1.

I have gone back and am re-running the scenario. I still get a red signal at the top of the wye. I have saved and reloaded and on a restart can actually watch the signal change to red. Requesting permission with the tab key gets a negative answer. So I'm stuck. What am I doing wrong?

I'm sorry, I must not have explained myself clearly. I'm coming from the opposite direction heading for the mine, not away from it. I'm stilling pulling the empties.

As the author ( culprit : ) *!rolleyes!* Yes the red signal is a real problem. Many scenario writers have run into this situation that seems to be embedded in the Kuju legacy coding: The round trip bug. If a scenario is an "out and back" using a single signaled path, the dispatch function of the software sees the return trip as an interfering AI creating a red signal. The solution is to break the scenario into two parts. one part out and another for the return.
OK so how did this get past QC? This was one of the earliest scenario written, used initially to check the route at Waterton. The mine and logging branches were not yet developed and I failed to re-run the scenario to completion later. I hope that you all will not see this as a reflection of the overall quality of the route or the skills of the rest of the team.
For those who can't bring themselves to pass a red and get the dreaded red "X" and have the required scenario writing skills: Breaking the scenario into two parts by first creating a clone of the scenario solves the problem ( The signal at the top of the wye does go "green ) when the new Part 1 ends with the delivery at the mine. I will re-create the scenario as a two part and will contact Bob to see how he wants to deal with a possible patch or new scenario posting.

Well, here's my weird twist on this.
I get the red on the way there, and get a green on the way back.
I do get around the red going to the mine, but I must wait for a few minutes and hit tab more than once. I haven't tried hitting tab once and then waiting, yet.

I ran the "Mine Shuttle" scenario with no problems. All I had to do is set the switches in the Gogebic Mine to route the train correctly.

Ditto.
