I love it the way it is. The 1914 gives it character.

I think the first one is perfect! I've got a friend next door from Michigan, and she said the iron mines are on the "UP" Upper Peninsula.

If you're doing the road name on the hood as well, I was thinking Black font with gold edges.

Ricks logo might look good with black filling in the circles around the font, but it's really nice as is.

No offense, Mr. Foss (you're still the best map-maker!), but I prefer Mr. Grout's logo.
