Following in the footsteps of the Delaware & Hudson, the RW&A has bought a pair of sharknoses from the scrappers and painted them in their original Pennsy livery.

A man and a train, a train and a man. They both tried to run as far and as fast as they can. But a man's not a train and a train's not a man. A man can do things that a train never can.

Just installed the RWA Lakeside route and am extremely pleased with the purchase. I'm thoroughly enjoying the period setting complete with semaphores, and even a '56 Buick Roadmaster. Reminds me of the praries just south of Olympia, WA...

Thanks to everyone who helped put this route together; great job! !*cheers*!

In the early days of diesel transition Baldwin tried to induce railroads to buy their Sharks by painting them up in the railroad's colors. A A-B-A set came to the RWA. They spent most of their time on the road hauling empties up to the mine and loaded cars back to the dock. RWA eventually decided against keeping these locos but they were a pretty spectacular sight while they were there.

Unhooking to let the yard crew push the loaded cars out onto the docks.

Just when you think you've seen it all, something else comes along! Those Sharks look like they're dressed to the nines. You do some fantastic work, Buzz. Sharks in a tuxedo! Awesome!

A far cry from the fast freights she used to pull, an NYC Hudson ends her days on local freights on the RW&A.

As a side-note, I am loving these Hudsons. My only issues with them are small things, such as the boilers being too "happy" and blowing off every few minutes, and using water water way too quickly. I went through around 3000 gallons on my trip from Waterton to Riverside, with some switching in Rideout. Other than that, these are absolutely wonderful locomotives

Shortly after EMD introduced their first road diesel which was to change the railroad industry forever the Riverside Waterton & Atlantic took a hard look at whether this was a good fit for the road and decided to jump into the diesel era. The resulting purchase of the FT A-B-A units was a great success.
