Is there a way to add a 'fishbelly' part through child objects to the current Coil car we have in-game? I've searched through every DLC that has one and they all unfortunately happen to be the exact same.

Two children can be used.
Someone with modelling expertise have to model and paint the "fishbelly". Modeling that, will produce a geopcdx. The model and paint data will be placed in the assets.
The models will be positioned using the matrix of the two child´s (both sides of the car).
I believe these fishbelly´s are reinforcement I beams in the half middle of the car.

Sorry to bring up a fairly old thread, but going through my rolling stock, I found these in the RSC BN GP38-2 pack. Thought that they might help in your project.

Unfortunately, those are just repainted versions of the standard coil car (more akin to the Alstom Steel coil cars) not the fish belly

Coil cars have always been lacking in this game.

I made a huge coil pack by modeling a few varients in Blender, and got some texture help from Troy at SPS. I gave up on railworks a few years ago essentially from burnout. I would absolutely love to have these passed out for others to use, however to make them I've modified shape files from JR rolling stock. All I did was model the bodies of the cars, make them child objects on JR cars, and moved the JR car underground and kept only the trucks visible from the original car. I never found a way to properly share modified Geo files before I gave up on railworks, but if someone knows a way I've got tons of rolling stock from the years where I did this method.

Those cars look great. You are almost there. All you need is to model a pair of trucks in Blender and you can free yourself of the JR dependencies.

Never learned how to script custom cars or locos. This was just a cheat way to only have to model it and not do any of the back end work lol. I just don’t have it in me to learn all that about a game that is far behind modern games by now. That’s why it’s unfortunate I have all these models but I’d love if someone could provide a way for some of these to be shared. Or even if they wanted to use their knowledge to make it into its own scripted car
