L&N steam for the "Kentucky 1930's" route by Zawal

Hello,

With the recent release of the Kentucky 1930's route by Zawal, I would like to suggest that some repaints be made for the G-Trax 2-8-4 Berkshire and the 0-6-0 Switcher from the BLE route (with sloped tender) into the proper L&N scheme. Photo's can be found here, ( http://kohlin.com/L&N/ ), just click on lefthand side to be taken to the photo for each locomotive. Please note that the photo's for the 2-8-4 Berkshire's are on page 4 and incorrectly labeled as "L&N Class M-1 Mountain (2-8-4)".

I would also suggest repaint's for the BritKits 4-6-2 Pacific's, 2-8-2 Mikado's and 4-8-2 Mountain's. These might just need a tender decal repaint of one or two tenders. Photo's for these are also available at the same link as above.

Thank you for your time,
David

If someone can find some references, including cab photo's, I'll whisper about this to a friend of mine.

He might not build it right away, but perhaps in the future, all that we require are exterior photo's interior photo's, blueprints, and sounds if you have any, especially a whistle sound for the audio.

...Cheers...

I am playing around with the repaints for the Britkits tenders. If someone would like to tackle the other repaints I suggested, that would be cool.

I would also add the freeware, DSGDDR PRR H10 to the possible repaint suggestion list as it does appear, from what I have been able to find, that the L&N actually did have some H10 Consolidations complete with the high mounted headlights and the "squared" area on top of the boiler in front of the cab. So the PRR model should work just fine. Just need some repainting that may, or may not, be tricky. I could tell that the name on the tender is a decal and not painted straight onto the tender body. So that may be a problem if the model uses the same texture for both sides as one side would most likely be a mirror image, and therefore any text would be backwards. This might actually require that a new child object/decal be created. But that is why I am suggesting it and I'm not trying to do that one myself. :D

Does anyone know of any blueprints of the L&N M-1's anywhere, Big Emma?

Big J Productions from the Railworks Links section.

Anyways, I re-edited the link on my signature.

How about this? I didn't do anything wit the loco. Should I do something? I'll post a link for the tender in a bit.

H10s tender for the LN. I have been informed that the black and white photos I was working from were in fact wrong and the L&N logo was yellow. Here is the corrected logo and the link to download this if you wish.

Awesome, thanks. And yeah, when all you have to go by are black & white photo's, it can be easy to assume the color's wrong. After you said that, I did some more searching and did find a few period photo's and a few of restored L&N locomotives and you are right. They did use yellow for the lettering and numbers. Well, you learn something new every day.

Anyway, thanks again.

I just had an awesome idea: take a route and its rolling stock, replace all textures with their grayscale version, including sky. You now have a black & white seam era route.
:D

Just use an old monochrome monitor, saves a lot of work.

:D

Or just choose the Black and White color filter in the Camera Options menu ( Escape Key )

Me neither. I guess it WAS an awesome idea after all: it's already in the game!

Does this mean I can throw away my 1984 monitor (again)?
