CP RS 11

CP_RS_11.jpg
A fellow on Digirails website was looking for a repaint of the virtual Rails RS11 in CP livery as shown above.
It would be a great addon.

I decided to give it a go. This is how far I got. I can`t seem to get the stripes or the Pacman logo as well as the CP logos.

I anyone else wants to give it a try I could PM my progress so far or they could start from scratch. I have the repaint files from Mike Duran from awhile ago that I was using for the repaints. I don`t have the repainting experience to do it justice.

Looks like you had the same issue I did trying to repaint that thing with the glossy textures. No matter what I did with the alpha and everything I was unable to correct it. Granted I'm not a very experienced reskinner myself but the rs11 seems to give me more issues.

BTW those are technically rs18's. ALCo placed chamfers on the upper corners near the lights. MLW thought it would make itself stand out rounding those off. Mechanically though they are the same under the hood but feature different control stands. !*salute*!

Several of them ended up on small railroads in New York and my understanding is that as far as old ALCo's go they are among the most reliable and quite responsive on the throttle with fair torque as far as small road engines go.

Giving Pete a little help with the stripes and such. Together we'll have this thing done in a bit.

Here it is
RS11Faded.jpg

A faded version of our repainting project in collaboration with Buzz. This is how they would look after some years of sun and rain.
Almost ready to upload.

Great news! Always like the old weathered locos.

I'm no repainter, so I'm asking the question to those who are.
The compressed size of this repaint is 23 MB. The uncompressed size is 50 MB.
The size for Pete's Pacman repaint for SD40-2, that I just published, is 80 MB compressed. The uncompressed size is 500MB.

This seems a lot. Is this normal?

I've just looked into Pete's repaint. It's full of double/source or other unnecessary files. In-fact, almost every file inside is doubled for no reason and furthermore contains GeoPcDx files. I'm afraid it needs to be taken down as it violates our EULA unfortuantely.

If you could remove it Chacal, I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: Please remove these two along with it as they also include geo files. Thank you.

@Pete. Please clean up engine repaints before you submit them and never under any circumstances include geo files in your upload unless given permission. We are more than happy with the community creating repaints but they should follow the basic rules of distribution.

So feel free to re-upload it once you've cleaned it up.

I have disabled these 4 items for now until the files are cleaned up:
CPRail GP40-2_faded
SS CSX YN3B SD40-2
CP Rail RS11
SS Canadian Pacific SD40-2 Golden Beaver

Can you, Buzz or another specialist help Pete with this?
I would do it if I knew what to prune off.

Is there a way to make the weathered version work with the non-Steam version of the RS-11?

Is the texture mapping the same? I don't have the VR RS11, so I can't say for sure if it would or not.
